Ok Tdub, I want to buy some new bedsheets that don't suck (Queen size bed). I got some sheets when I bought my mattress from a local place in Michigan, and they were good for about two months until the threads got messed up. I was washing them about 3 times a month. Here are the main priorities for sheets:1. Can be washed many times without getting all the threads all nasty2. Soft & comfortable3. easy to care for--ideally I could just throw it in the washing machine and stick it on coldI'm willing to eventually get 2 sets so I can rotate them but I want to be sure that I like the sheets first. I am also willing to spend money on this--it's not so much about what they cost, it's about what I'm getting for the loot. I'd pay over $100 for a set if I thought it would be a long lasting, high quality product. I'd like to order them online. So, how important is stuff like thread count? What about material--I'm assuming most "Egyptian cotton" or "Satin" is some Chinese knockoff crap. I'm looking around online at Bed Bath & Beyond and I don't know how to pick out good onesHelp me Tdub.

Here's mine, been using them for years and love em, they last quite a while and machine wash cold, way softer to the touch than most egyptian cotton sheetshttp://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?MC=1&SKU=132843&COL=410&RN=16&

I've got some awesome bamboo sheets that I adore. Super soft but with a slight sateen look. Have had for three years and wish I had more.

wamsutta sheets are awesome. I think you should go at least 500 count.
6/25/2012 9:42:10 PM
Give TJ Maxx or Marshalls a shot and go for the highest thread count

I got some 800-thread Egyptian cotton sheets from Kohl's on Black Friday sale for ridiculously cheap. It was something like $8 for the sheet set. I think I'll buy all my sheets on Black Friday from now on lol.

2nd the Macy's 800 thread count Egyptian. Well worth the price.Key is to wash frequently and mine got even softer over time.

I too like the Pure Beech Jersey Knit sheet sets, but I feel like because they're so soft, they don't hold up as well as I'd like them to.I'm still stickin with them though

I prefer Hotel Luxury Linens.

I steal mine from Embassy Suites

I'm going to go with the Bed Bath and Beyond ones. Thanks.

Update: got the Bed Bath and Beyond sheets. They're great, except they sent me ones with a fucking hole in them. Yeah. I hate returning shit I bought online so I've kept them--it's not that noticeable, but it annoys me. I saw an ad on Reddit for these sheets:http://www.breathebedding.com/I'm going to give it a shot. I can rotate between those and the BB&B sheets.

Jersey sheets are for college freshmen.Shop around and get some decent egyptian cotton sheets. They'll hold up much better over time and will get softer as you wash them. Sheets are one of those things that you should go ahead and spend the money on rather than cheap out. You spend a third of your life in bed, be comfortable.Macy's hotel collection is pretty nice, and Ralph Lauren makes excellent bedding.

http://amzn.to/RbTVyBThese sheets are the tits.Seriously, they feel great. I'm not big on a using blankets in the summer..but these are thick enough these last few nights of keeping me warm without need of blankets with the windows open.I have two sets. Green and blue. Really love them. might order a third...to stick with my queen sized air mattress.[Edited on September 16, 2012 at 3:46 PM. Reason : dd]

I slept on bamboo sheets once, and they were like a slice of heaven wrapped in a cloud.
9/16/2012 4:02:52 PM
Not saying they aren't still good sheets, but 800 thread count is pretty much impossible. You're getting tricked by false advertising. Count them out. Probably 400 thread count by traditional methods, and even that is extremely high.

Bamboo sheets are a lie and a marketing gimmick. You can't take a piece of bamboo and pull out thread.FTC released statements that manufacturers could not label their products as such, and actually sued/warned a whole bunch of retailers about it.It's just plain ol' rayon. Don't be fooled.http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt160.shtmhttp://www.ftc.gov/opa/2010/02/bamboo.shtm[Edited on September 17, 2012 at 2:10 PM. Reason : .]

I don't know the brand, but we have some 400 thread count egyptian cotton from sams--they were like 40 bucks for a queen set. Pretty decent. I don't know what it is about jersey, but I hate how hot they get. Egyptian cotton seems to dissipate the heat better and get/stay cool.

A lot misinformation in here. Allow a textile nerd to clarify. Egyptian cotton is just the fiber (and American Pima is just a good). You could have Egyptian cotton jersey knit sheets. However, typically the best use of the higher strength and longer staple length of the premium fibers is to spin very fine yarns for high thread count woven sheets.

We have these:http://www.costco.com/Kirkland-Signature%E2%84%A2-540-TC-Supima%C2%AE-Cotton-Sateen-Weave-Sheet-Sets-Blue-Queen-Sheets.product.100011972.htmlSateen sheets makes me feel like I'm in a hotel, love these sheets.

Ikea ftwThe ones i got from there are so awesome.

Has anyone seen very light grey bed sheets locally? I don't care too much about quality and stuff since they're just getting put on a guest bed that's rarely used. I've only had a chance to look at Target and Walmart so far and what they sold was too dark for what I need.
9/24/2012 8:31:30 AM
We have some light gray sheets for bb&b. He likes them, I think they stretch too much during the week.
9/24/2012 8:38:32 AM
Awesome thanks. I'll have to hit them up this weekend. I wish I could just order online but this bed has a weird non-typical mattress so I need to have the ability to return them if they don't fit correctly and I'm just too lazy to deal with online returns
9/24/2012 8:42:13 AM
^^ TJ and Marshalls will have more variety.
9/24/2012 8:42:15 AM
2^these sheets have extra stretchy stuff that wraps around the ends of the bed that would be perfect for that. I wish I could remember the brand.
