...defeat the LA Galaxy 2-1 at WakeMed Soccer Park and advance to the 4th round of the US Open Cup. Admittedly, I didn't attend, and don't follow closely: I assume it was their scrubs? i know Beckham wasn't there.(why not? maybe use as an MLS thread? WTF is a Railhawk?)
5/29/2012 9:29:32 PM
favorite mascot name just ahead of montgomery biscuits.
5/29/2012 9:32:58 PM
Could face Chivas USA in next round.
5/29/2012 9:35:26 PM
Sitting in endless traffic. But it was worth it. Great night for soccer in the triangle!
5/29/2012 9:41:23 PM
what's with the exclamation points? It was defintely Galaxy scrubs but still pretty cool.
5/29/2012 9:56:57 PM
Doesn't follow the team. Doesn't know what the mascot is. Makes a thread.
5/29/2012 9:59:11 PM
^^because this is serious stuff! if i knew how to make inverted exclamation marks, i would have put them in front.[Edited on May 29, 2012 at 10:20 PM. Reason : ^did you not see the italics on "mascot"? were you not following the 'hawks in '06?]
5/29/2012 10:00:31 PM
Railhawks! Galaxy were without donovan and keane too because of international duty, but still an upset. And the galaxy were leading with 15 minutes left.
5/29/2012 11:43:00 PM
Was at the Open Cup match in Wilmington in '03 when the Hammerheads beat the Dallas Burn first team (Kreis, etc.) 4-1. It was pretty awesome.
5/30/2012 4:57:10 AM
This isn't the first time the RailHawks have beaten a MLS side in the USOC though. I remember when they beat the Chicago Fire, a team that traditionally takes USOC very seriously and I think they were playing a good number of regular starters, in the inaugural season.Anyways, 7 MLS teams lost yesterday. RailHawks play Chivas USA next.
5/30/2012 8:07:29 AM
I was sitting behind the goal where all the goals were score and the last fifteen minutes or so were awesome. There was a palpable excitement in the crowd that last little bit and the four minutes of stoppage time were nigh unbearable. All in all a pretty fun evening. The weather held, there was a nice breeze so the humidity didnt get cloying, and we came out with a win. Bring on Chivas!
5/30/2012 8:57:04 AM
I'll be there tonight. Apparently.Fuck Chivas. USA or Mexican.
6/5/2012 1:50:48 PM
I am going tonight. Got the same general admission tickets in the new endzone seats. Pretty excited as it will be my wife's first game as well as my niece's. Should be a good time. GO RAILHAWKS!
6/5/2012 4:56:38 PM
Came out to see the WTVD 11 chopper flying around above my house. Thought there was some major shit going down. Turns out is for the soccer game.
6/5/2012 6:00:36 PM
Game is on TWC channel 106.[Edited on June 5, 2012 at 7:08 PM. Reason : foo]

I made this same thread back in 2006. ?topic=421522

Watched a game tonight, NASL. They dominated the first half. We got a free tshirt thrown by the mascot and left.
6/23/2012 11:27:47 PM
they gave up the 2013 spring NASL championship on the final day
7/10/2013 11:19:02 AM
Sad indeed, but still a very fun season:Quarterfinals in US Open cupBeat LA Galaxy and Chivas USAWon or Tied in 5 out of the last 6 games in the last 10 minutes of the gameIf Ty Shipaline did not get hurt, we would have won the leagueFall season starts in August, but Ty will still be out.Oh, and hello NY Cosmos!
7/10/2013 11:22:45 AM
I got like 6 VIP ticket vouchers I haven't used this season. How's the new upper deck?
7/10/2013 12:05:55 PM
The upper deck looks great. Attendance was up this season, and hopefully they can at least maintain, since the south end zone area is still under advertisement tarps. It is bull shit, because the security people won't even let people stand at the walkway on the south end zone. Maybe it is because they are blocking the ads, or maybe (in my case) people are getting drunk and harassing the goalie too much
7/10/2013 1:06:48 PM
Anybody been going to the games? I plan to attend a few in the next couple months.
7/7/2014 10:12:07 AM

Awesome that we tied with West Ham - http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/soccer/carolina-railhawks/article89265992.htmlI was at the Revolution game a month back that was also delayed by lightning.Sounds like it was a great crowd (largest ever) and the Bravo signing is great!
7/14/2016 8:45:04 AM
Was a great crowd. Fun to see some really high caliber players on the field with the Railhawks. Seemed to go quite well. Hopefully word gets around some of the bigger leagues and we can get more teams over here for visits.

on the flip side I like the simpler name of North Carolina FC and would welcome an MLS team in this area with open arms. Would certainly invest in a season ticket or a few matches a year at the very least.
12/5/2016 2:08:25 PM
^Yeah, I'm not a fan of "North Carolina FC." I'm kind of getting sick of the "lets pretend to be Europe" names.
12/5/2016 2:09:07 PM
Wow, I just literally posted the same thing as I did 6 months ago without realizing it. I reacted to a post at the top without seeing I already had...I just forgot that I had read it.[Edited on December 5, 2016 at 3:05 PM. Reason : -]

Should call it the North Carolina Soccer Team..

North Carolina Football Club? You mean the Panthers?
12/5/2016 6:40:27 PM
Where is the new stadium going?
12/6/2016 9:23:20 AM
Seems like I heard mention of downtown or perhaps the north hills area?
12/6/2016 9:53:58 AM
That would be awful for traffic. Suburban Raleigh or Apex is a better choice.
12/6/2016 10:06:13 AM
I'm sure Chicago and Dallas wanted their stadiums in the suburbs for that reason and now that lead the league in lowest attandance

12/6/2016 12:45:15 PM
Courage is a terrible name for the women's team when they could have been the Hamm Hawks
12/6/2016 1:14:54 PM
I'm sure all the butch players of the NWSL are clamoring to play in the forward thinking state of North Carolina.[Edited on December 6, 2016 at 1:19 PM. Reason : d]

I'm sure this is one of the 8 locations.
12/6/2016 1:43:49 PM
Would be awesome to see Zlatan, Rooney, and Ronaldo come play in Raleigh in 2020. Not sure how the MLS works but I assume we will be in a similar division as the New York, DC, and Toronto teams at least?
12/6/2016 2:08:20 PM
Rooney and Ronaldo want to play for Raleigh?
12/6/2016 2:09:50 PM
lol no but I imagine if we do go to the MLS then we will have teams from NY, LA, and Seattle coming to twon every now and then.
