If you learn something, read something interesting or see a neat video post it in here.

This is kind of like the "common things i just learned" thread except that it doesn't have to just be simple knowledge

This has been Krallum presentation

I think this is a good idea, but with some of the people on here I could imagine it quickly turning into "I can't believe you are so stupid and you didn't know that."

Isn't this basically what the entire Internet is? Or at least why message boards exist...?

^^ well, he is asking for 'knowledge'. that rules out most of the things posted in chit chat, as they are just funny/gross/wtf pics, or news articles about crimes or weird people.

a lot of the threads i create are about things that would be a perfect fit for this thread (science/nature news).

cool so instead of trashing this idea, maybe you could keep the chit chat in chit chat.

well i haven't read anything of interest to the general public (ie the point of the thread) in the last few days on the internet but if you want to know the difference between the black arts toneworks pharoah and LSTR feel free to ask.

Those blue reflectors on the road are to show that there is a fire hydrant there.

The more you know.

Disney lent the image of Bambi to the smokey the bear campaign for one year when it was first starting out.

The prevention of forest fires was related to our success in WW2

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosenhan_experiment

Quote :
"Rosenhan's study was done in two parts. The first part involved the use of healthy associates or "pseudopatients" (three women and five men) who briefly simulated auditory hallucinations in an attempt to gain admission to 12 different psychiatric hospitals in five different states in various locations in the United States. All were admitted and diagnosed with psychiatric disorders. After admission, the pseudopatients acted normally and told staff that they felt fine and had not experienced any more hallucinations. Hospital staff failed to detect a single pseudopatient, and instead believed that all of the pseudopatients exhibited symptoms of ongoing mental illness. Several were confined for months. All were forced to admit to having a mental illness and agree to take antipsychotic drugs as a condition of their release. The second part involved an offended hospital challenging Rosenhan to send pseudopatients to its facility, whom its staff would then detect. Rosenhan agreed and in the following weeks out of 193 new patients the staff identified 41 as potential pseudopatients, with 19 of these receiving suspicion from at least 1 psychiatrist and 1 other staff member. In fact Rosenhan had sent no-one to the hospital."
