I'm moving into a new house at the end of the month and will finally have a garage. It's 24x27 and I've also got a 12x18 shed out back. I'm looking for any innovative or cheap shelving or tool/equipment storage solutions, cool built ins or anything like that. I thought it would be interesting to see what kind of shops people around here have and maybe steal some ideas. Thanks!

wood worktable, a must. I built mine shorter and with a double-thick top for replacement due to wear and tear. I currently have a vice mounted on the end with the notch-out, which helps.

Pegboard can be cheaply replaced with a piece of plywood with nails in it. Not as verstaile, but cheap.I personally like to keep my tools in a rolling toolbox, that way I don't have to run back and forth between the pegboard and your project, you just pull up the toolbox. It's nice to have the toolbox with the working are up top, so it can double as a tool cart. Get one with roller bearing drawer supports, they are a little more $$ but worth every penny. You can find free metal shelving behind the mall oftentimes. It all depends on what kind of tools you have and what type of projects you plan to work on.Minifridge is a must, though

For tool storage its hard to beat the harbor freight gloss red tool carts or tool cabinets. Much better quality than what is at lowes/HD and half the price of the tool trucks (Snap-On, Mac, etc...)I picked up alot of metal shelving units on black friday that have served me well. Check out http://www.garagejournal.com/forums. They have a few threads specially for garage storage solutions full of pictures.

bought one of these and screwed it to the wall with L-brackets...the top is butcher block so it is damn tough and i have a vise mounted on the end of the table....http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=prod1490086&navAction=then bought 2 of these that roll right under the table...works out pretty well and i like being able to roll the boxes around the garage when needed....it also gives you extra table surface....http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=prod2140859

Thanks for the responses, y'all. We close on the 31st and I can't wait to start on my garage. mikey99cobra, thanks for the link, I found a "What's on your walls" thread that is chock full of ideas.Dr Pepper, I like that tool cart, been eyeing it for awhile actually. On that garagejournal forum they have a Harbor Freight coupon thread and wouldn't you know it, someone posted this coupon for that cart for $99. yes please!

The red 5 drawer cart is a better buy in my opinion. Better quality and can be had for 150$ with coupon. NEVER buy anything from harbor freight without a coupon. At the very least us the standard 20% off coupon that can be found online.
