**Obligatory "searched and didn't find anything directly related" disclaimer**So I'm planning a bachelor party for Atlanta and need some help from anyone who knows the area on lodging. I should be good on figuring out bars, activities, etc, but if people want to chime in with that stuff than I'm game. But, like I said, what I really need help with is where we are staying.I've got a group of about 13 people, and ideally I'd like to find a house or condo or something that's within walking distance of the Buckhead bars. I did some searches on VRBO, CL, and airBnB, but wasn't able to zero in on anything. Basically, I want to avoid getting hotel rooms so we can all be in one place together, but I'd also prefer something that's not too nice or too homely that we would be too scared to mess stuff up a bit.Anyone know of something like this? Thanks in advance...

I've had good luck with finding places on http://www.VRBO.comUsually you can find a big ass house with all the amenities for a lot cheaper than hotels.

My GFs sister lives in Buckhead. Most of the "bars" were torn down awhile back.Replaced with high rises and the like.Odds of finding a house or condo for just the weekend in that area are very slim.

Oh I was under the impression that Buckhead was kind of the place to be for the bars...is there a better area?Basically I want to set up camp in an area where we would be able to walk to a decent amount of bars, is that possible?

Can't really recommend any houses/condos as I have usually shacked up with a bunch of friends in hotels close by or took a taxi from another hotel further away. I have always enjoyed going to Moondogs. It's fairly cheap, and it's usually filled with college-aged kids or those that are a few years removed from school. With that said, I have always had a good time there and there are quite a few bars in the actual building.

Taco Mac is the bomb. I would suggest going there and also visit the Sweetwater Brewing Company for day drinking.

It all depends on what atmosphere you want for bars. Frankly, I always liked the Highlands better than Buckhead. Though the live cover bands up there were always a blast. There were a few good places that got torn down in Buckhead, but there is still a ton around there. Midtown also has a great selection, especially if you're looking more for clubs. If you really want walking to a shitload of good bars, my rec is Virginia Highlands.

there are also a ton of bars within a few blocks of each other in buckhead still, despite what was torn down years ago. how old are you guys? if over ~27-28, i'd say go to midtown/highlands or somewhere else outside of buckhead. if under, i'd say buckhead is still a good bet. or, if simply looking for girls in their early 20's, buckhead is def the best bet for a bachelor party. agree that it will be tough to find a house/condo for rent, but there are tons of hotels to choose from in all areas of town. for midtown, there's Hotel Midtown that's in a good location and fairly reasonably priced. Hotels in buckhead are generally a little more expensive, but you guys can always ball it up at the St. Regis!

Go out in the Virginia Highlands it kills Buckhead unless you are the fratty type, then Buckhead is for you.

Group will be all later 20's, maybe a couple people that are 30 (like me )It sounds like the Virginia Highlands might be the way to go here over Buckhead...we definitely want to stay away from any fratty bars...on the other hand, we aren't looking for "adult" bars by any means. Loud music and young girls are always appreciated. Really we'd be looking for more dive bars and maybe some live music.Same deal for Highlands area in terms of doing a hotel over a house/condo I guess?

yeah, pretty much the same deal on finding a place to stay, tough to find a house/condo to rent. but may get lucky. only tough thing about the Highlands is that there's really no hotels within walking distance either. There's the Highland Inn, but it's quite old and I'm not sure it would be your type of place. That being said, the Highlands is only about a 5-10 minute cab ride from Midtown, where there are tons of hotels, so shouldn't be too much of a hassle. I live in the Highlands (mainly due to the fact that I can get wasted and just walk everywhere), and the bars are all pretty decent. Emphasis on patio drinking-type places, think older versions of East Village. Hand in Hand, Neighbors, and Diesel all have big decks/patios that are nice in good weather. Atkins Park, Dark Horse Tavern, Fontaines, Limerick Junction, Highland Tap, and Moes and Joes are typically pretty busy on weekends as well. For live music, there's a dive place called 10 High that has bands. On Saturdays they have metal/rock karaoke with a live backing band (Metalsome Karaoke) which can be fun. There's a good blues place called Blind Willies as well, however probably not a good spot for a bachelor party (people actually sit and listen to the music, so can't really socialize in there). And finally, for late night dancing/hollering at broads/plain stupidness, The Warren, El Bar, MJQ, and of course the legendary Clermont Lounge, are all very close. Although hollering at broads is not necessarily a good option at some of those places!Enjoy the A!!!

I came in here to recommend the Clermont LoungeI've been several timesit used to be on Saturday you had to pay a cover and there weren't (m)any strippers - it was mostly girls from Emory out slumming it and it had the feel of a disgusting dance club... this might be a good place to find college girls with loose morals if that's what you're looking forpersonally I'd suggest going on a weekday when there is no cover and there are actually strippersthere's some Ricki Lake shit going on in there

cheetah club is always impressive with the shear number of hot strippers, but is pretty expensive for a private dance. if you want to hook the bachelor up with some lap dances, get them somewhere else IMO

Has anyone posted the obligatory, "why is a white guy having a party in atlanta?" racist comment, yet?[Edited on May 5, 2012 at 9:12 AM. Reason : ]

Thanks for all the help on this guysOn the Friday we're going to be there it's the Tennessee game @ the Georgia Dome. The rough plan is to tailgate and then watch the game at some nearby bar.Any suggestions on bars or general tips concerning these activities? Would it be a good idea to try and find a bar that will let me reserve a table or something?
