i took st 311 around 2004/5 time frame. ST 511 falls into an elective for masters. Ive read on the professors website that there isnt much "math" involved, but I want to if its worth taking during summer (looks ot be 10 weeks)? does it require a lot of 311 knowledge? i know 1+1=2, is that enough?

ST 511 is a fucking joke. If you did well in ST 311, you'll do well in ST 511. If you didn't do well in ST 311, stay awake, do the homework and practice tests, and you'll do well in ST 511. It's just intro to statistics all over again. The required text book sucks and I recommend finding a different one. You'll probably still have to buy the Rao book to do homework problems however.

I had Roger Woodard for ST 511 and thought he did an excellent job. I took it as an undergrad and it wasn't extremely difficult and you learn a lot more than you do in ST 311 for sure, very applicable to biological grad students. You learn a little bit of SAS too which is a plus if you've never had any exposure to SAS before.
