Hey guys,I'm doing this anthropology project on the expression wall and I was hoping if any of you guys will help me by answering a few questions. You dont have to answer all of them or in fact any of them but anything regarding the expression wall would really help me out!thanks!Questions:1. Have you ever painted anything on the wall and if you have what was it? and why did you paint it? was there a specific audience that you wanted to reach? what was the importance of painting what you did?2. If you have never painting anything before why didn't you? and what do you think about the wall?3. There has been controversies about whether or not the wall should be a free expression on everything, what do you think?

Hello annon315. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope that you find all of the answers that you need here. It is my hope that you spread word about this website to your anthropology class. Here goes:1. Have you ever painted anything on the wall and if you have what was it? and why did you paint it? was there a specific audience that you wanted to reach? what was the importance of painting what you did?Yes, I painted pre-wolfpack items on the wall for game days (basketball and football). I painted this to show support for my school, and the audience that I wanted to reach were other students. The importance of paining what I did was simple... school pride. Also, many others on this website paint the wall every semester, and they paint advertisements for this website. It is done in order to attract new users to this forum. The audience in this case is mainly students, but really it's for anyone that wants to come here and share ideas. The importance I guess was advertisement.2. If you have never painting anything before why didn't you? and what do you think about the wall?N/A3. There has been controversies about whether or not the wall should be a free expression on everything, what do you think?I am aware of some of the controversies surrounding the free expression tunnel (FET), and I have mixed opinions. I consider the FET successful in it's goals of reducing graffiti around campus, as well as providing students a medium to freely express themselves. On the other hand, some of the controversy surrounding the FET is downright shameful, especially when it reaches the news and reflects badly on the university. As an alum., this type of negative press discourages me from donating to the school at times.

I have painted the free expression tunnel. I have never painted the free expression wall.

1. Yes. I have painted a large phallus about half the length of the tunnel. I painted it as an expression of virility. My target audience was the hundreds of students who use the tunnel to traverse the campus, however on a larger scale, I just wanted to show everyone my magnum dong.2. N/A3. I do think there's a controversy. Some, like myself, used the wall for its intended purpose of expression and fine art. Then you have others like EMCE using the wall for propaganda. I would hardly consider a cartoon wolf and the inscription "Go Pack!" a form of expression. It's in poor taste - just mindless drivel.

1. It's the free expression tunnel.2. It's really the limited expression tunnel.3. Yes, I have painted on the limited expression tunnel. Club/organization/TWW advertisements. To gain members.4. N/A5. I think it should go away. That's because it's really a limited expression tunnel, it smells like shit, and looks like shit.
