For having a tantrum in the principal's office. http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/17/justice/georgia-student-handcuffed/index.html?hpt=hp_t3Sounds like an argument for brining back corporal punishment. The principal should have the right to give this little snot a few whacks in the behind. Since obviously she is not receiving any discipline in the home. What kind of name is

Old argument that you're not going to win in this or any other administration. (except ron paul)[Edited on April 17, 2012 at 5:15 PM. Reason : (except ron paul) ]

Yes, because teaching children that violence and losing your temper is a proper way to act is a good thing. Also there's nothing oddly sexual about an older man swatting the behinds of younger children.[Edited on April 17, 2012 at 5:17 PM. Reason : ]

Unfortunately if the kid was restrained in any other way or touched by a school admin they'd get sued into the ground.

the girl turned over a bookshelf that landed on the principal .... what did they expect the school to do that doesn't turn into a lawsuit.

I guess I am not arguing against the arrest. This thread is more to show the sorry state of affairs of parenting in this country and the lawsuit state we have turned into that the arrest was the only kind of restraint the school could instill without getting sued.

Pain is a natural element in life that is undesirable to normal people.Using corporal punishment appropriately is a good way to deter bad behavior by associating a bad deed with pain. Pain = bad, Pleasure = good. The problem lies in parents that go overboard or use corporal punishment incorrectly.of course, we have deeper problems in society because now most girl and guys ASK for punishment as a form of pleasure. While it's none of my business what other people do to their own bodies, I have girls asking for me to choke them and spank them during intercourse. Of course, we see this behavior in mostly all porno, too. Other instances of Pain = Pleasure are tattoos and piercings.Since pain is a part of life and spanking is painful, it usually doesn't kill the kid to receive a few asswhoopings. Of course, each case would have to be looked at with scrutiny but there has to be some sort of tolerance. If suzy came into school with black eyes regularly or belt marks across her back or whatever, it's clear that crosses the line. Most spankings require a light tap to get the message across.

I'm terribly not surprised you'd think that way and distrust child psychologists and pediatricians.

The difference between me and you stu?I think for myself.

Children are just like rats.Instead of teaching them why a behavior is wrong, we just administer a small shock so they associate the behavior with pain, this getting the same result.

I've studied "professionals" long enough to know there are two kinds of professionals.1) Professionals you can trust2) Professionals you can't trustThere are professionals on both sides of every issue. Who can you trust? You assume #2 until #1 is proven.I've never met or put to test any of these so called "professionals" you claim are "professionals" to the test. You tell me not to blindly follow them, but at the same time you're telling me to blindly follow them."Look at the data" you say. Look at straw polls. That shit doesn't mean anything unless you know the context. There is nothing wrong with questioning professionals. You have professionals on the news all day long saying Mitt Romney is the winner of the primary and the shit is only half way over, you have professionals telling us there's WMD in Iraq, you have professionals telling us that gay people can't get married. How dare you try to get me to be complacent and listen to people who I have no trust or history with. I've been fooled by professionals, and never again will I be that naive. If you want to be naive, that's your choice. I will NEVER ever stop asking questions especially when the professional opinions conflict with reality.

Paranoia. Pure and simple. I told you to trust the method, not the experts but you're so ready to distrust the official story you couldn't even see that. We're past the point of rational discourse here.
