Sound comes out, picture does not, front "VIZIO" letters change color from Orange to White like it normally does when powering on and off. Googled and found it could be a main board issue but I think it might just be the backlight? Anybody ever fixed a backlight on something similar?

if it was backlight you would be able to BARELY...I MEAN BARELY SEE IT.

I have a Vizio 42" i got in 2006 that was doing that about 25% of the time. I got it fixed under warranty (it was the main board) but it still does it about 1% of the time now. I just power it off and back on again and it works fine.
