I know, but still, good news for those of us cyclists that actually want to go somewhere on our bikes(like Raleigh, Southpoint, Apex, etc.)

yeah that Southpoint exit is totally non-navigable by bike. In high school I once walked from the Harris Teeter shopping center to the mall ... what a nightmare!!

Ok so this isn't about the Appalachian Trail.

Nice. When I discovered the ATT last year I went out looking for info online about when the bridge would be completed. Most of the info I saw said the bridge would be completed in 2005. Swing and a miss on that one.A little less than a month ago I was just able to get to the point where I could do a full out and back from New Hill to where the bridge will be. I guess now the distance will be substantially increased. New goal I suppose.

My feelings are very mixed about the Trail now..As a family, we live right off it, and used to be able to enjoy it a lot more regularly (with dirt bikes, horses, etc). Obviously no more dirt bikes, but really no more horses either. People on it are too stupid and too frequent.

nobody wants to deal with your goddamn horse shit all over the fucking place either. good riddance.

^^I don't frequent the ATT like I used to. They didn't ban horses, you just don't want to ride a horse on the trail due to all the traffic, right? Maybe it's a function of what time you go, I usually go early Saturday morning and there aren't that many people.I've seen a few horses in Umstead that get spooked by bikes but the horses I've seen on the ATT seem to be well adjusted.[Edited on April 12, 2012 at 11:16 AM. ^^ Wah wah, all the people on the trails are hipsters anyway, so look, it's organic! Go roll in it. I'll make sure not to pick it up this next time for you to do that.^ Yes, it's cause of the traffic. Weekends never work in our area (right at Chatham/Wake boundaries). And bikes really aren't the problem (except the assholes in their skivvies who can't be stopped and zoom BETWEEN two horses, and you didn't even know they were coming), it's high and mighty people with their strollers. My horse hadn't seen one, and so I asked the person to stop jogging with it and let us pass it by and look at it. He replied that I needed to get my horse used to these types of things, that there are so many of them on the trail and that why should he stop! Thanks bud, that's what I was trying to do in the first place.I'm waiting for an accident to happen to be honest, I'm surprised it hasn't yet. The signs say to yield to horses for a reason.
