My horrible Finals prediction from back in September/October or so is still alive (Kings over Caps in 6), but it won't be after the first round. As much as I loathe them, the Penguins just look way too damn strong right now to be stopped.

East:Rags, Caps, Cats, PensWest:Nucks, Sharks, Hawks, PredsI placed a bet in late January $50 each to win $2000 if the Preds or Panthers win the Stanley Cup. Don't see the Cats making it out of the 2nd round, but the Preds have a decent opportunity.

I'm ridiculously excited to watch the Pens/Flyers tonight
4/11/2012 7:53:57 AM
I suppose I could post this in the NHL thread, but the draft results are in... Canes go 8th.The Oilers got the 1st overall pick again! 3rd straight year. They should be a nasty team in a couple of years or so. Craig Button is predicting us to take a defenceman by the name of Trouba. Is Button aware that we are likely overloaded at D? Perhaps he knows that and anticipates us making a trade.
4/11/2012 8:21:41 AM
The more likely scenario is that Craig Button has no idea what the hell he's talking about. Without factoring in our organizational makeup and the fact that JR doesn't usually go D in the first round (yes I realize he did last year), maybe Trouba comes off the board at 8. However in the real world I can't imagine if we stay at 8 that we draft the guy.
4/11/2012 9:11:25 AM
Yea, I think over in the Canes thread I predicted we'd take Faksa out of Kitchener. Chip tweeted the same thing... You're probably right about Button, he does seem pretty retarded.

Even if that's been true for a while, the NHL is such a tradition- and superstition-rich league that no one would ever try it. Can you imagine if a team picked that, split the first two games at home, and then lost all three on the road to lose the series without a chance to come back home? The offending team's management would be the laughing stock of the league for years.

fuck you shea weber... you are done for the series
4/11/2012 10:42:00 PM
I would hardly call that domination by the Wings. Nashville executed their game plan pretty well and if they had gotten their powerplay going they could have run away with it.Great opening night so far. Hope this Vancouver LA game can make it 3 for 3.
4/11/2012 10:50:36 PM
Idiot

if thats not a minimum 2-gamer then fuck bettman too. little prick has it out for the wings.*** i know shanahan makes the call but IMO i doubt he doesn't have any communication with bettman about it
4/11/2012 11:16:15 PM
Blues are shockingly small favorites over the sharks so i bet the blues.. which means they are certain to lose first round since i never win at hockey
4/11/2012 11:29:30 PM
Someone post the "we sucked your dick" sign from the Bruins game last night..
4/12/2012 7:52:55 AM
^Was it a real one this time? One was floating around a week or two ago that was a photoshop. Tyler Seguin even called it out on his twitter. The real sign said something like "We wish we only got two minutes for hooking"I'm too lazy to find a pic of it. It's somewhere in the NHL Regular Season thread.
4/12/2012 8:19:55 AM
bruins game? last night? was I asleep a day, I thought they play tonight?
4/12/2012 9:50:22 AM
They do, I think he is referring to the photoshopped image from a few weeks ago

Darren Helm took a skate to the arm last night and lacerated a tendon. Out for the remainder. Also sounds more and more like Shea Weber will be fined but not suspended.[Edited on April 12, 2012 at 11:31 AM. Reason : shanahammer]
4/12/2012 11:25:50 AM
Weber should get a few games. I don't care if its the playoffs, that is example 1 of targeting the head.
4/12/2012 11:39:57 AM
BobMac said he didn't think it would be a suspension because Zetterberg wasn't injured on the play and that's what the NHL looks at more...retarded logic, but he also said Weber would get a fine... if no suspension, it better be a substantial fine.
4/12/2012 11:51:30 AM
It can't be more than $2500
4/12/2012 11:52:36 AM
And $2500 it is
