What is stopping them from passing that in our country? They've already passed an executive order for martial law, They've passed a law that can hold americans for any reason at any time without due process under any suspicion,They've passed the patriot act that can listen and record your telephone and txt messages, know your location, what you're doing and who you're doing it with, yet you don't think what I posted in the OP is feasible to pass?

I think it would be difficult, but possible. However, that's not what you stated in the OP.

I bolded "in the UK" because if you dont like their policy, the only way to avoid your emails to be monitored is by avoiding the UK altogether.Seems silly doesn't it? It may not impact you personally, but you can see how it could affect US <-> UK interaction on a grand scale. In conclusion, their government is not our government, but at the same time, this policy affects our freedom of communicating.

While true, we can't really control what other governments do with our information that we send to their country.

Yes, but most countries have privacy laws.Previously, the act of monitoring internet activity was apparently illegal prior to this law granting them power to do so.Although we know they did it, they probably couldn't use their findings as evidence in court. Now, we know as fact they do it and it's perfectly legal for them to do it and are actively doing it. There's no assuming anymore. How far into your life could the bill go? Probably all the way.Imagine if your mom had access to your internet activity as a teenager. Not just one computer that she knows about, but every cell phone or electronic device you'd ever buy. It's kind of like that.[Edited on April 2, 2012 at 3:49 PM. Reason : .]

True. The U.K. government has sucked and is getting worse, and many in the U.S. would like to follow their model. The U.K. is a model government for democracy gone wrong. They don't value freedom, privacy, or common sense. Anyone who points to the U.K. as a standard or good idea is dangerous.
