I want some headphones that will stay snug while i run and won't be too uncomfortable. I don't care if they are great quality but was looking for some imitation beats. I want to pay >50 but dont understand the on-ear over-ear terminology. I was looking at skullcandy lowrider.

I run with a pair of Sennheiser CX 680's:http://www.sennheiserusa.com/sport-headphones-sennheiser-adidas_504034They're great and I sweat A LOT. For listening to music at work I have a pair of Shure 535s. I could probably run with them but the cheaper Sennheiser's do the job. In my opinion running you get the best quality and sound isolation with in-ear headphones. On-ear/over-ear will let in all the ambient noise (causing you to crank up the volume).

Well not really an option for me because I don't have the lobe cartilage that holds them in.

They come with loops or some just fit in enough where they don't fall out.

^^there's 2 different things you could call "in-ear" headphones i suppose. the ones that really go IN your ear are the best for sound isolation. they don't require lobes or cartilage, just an ear canal...like thisNOT like this. these also kinda go in your ear but suck really hard (all kinds, not just apple).

^the second set are "ear buds". "in ear" or IEMs actually go inside your ear like the first set you posted. The CX 680s I posted are technically IEMs but they include lobe support thingies for extra stability.

Yeah I have really large ear holes without the little thingy covering the hole. The first type work well, unless i'm running then they get jerked out by the recoil of the cord. Maybe they would work if i had one of those pouch things on my arm. The other kindeventually come from being around theoutside of my ear and fall off.

i used to use the sennheisers, but i'd break them every couple of months, so i decided to go with these: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-ActionFit-SHQ4000-28-Headphones/dp/B004477D0K/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1332336521&sr=8-24these are really "in-ear" inasmuch as they have a cone shape that fits into your earhole, but not down into the canal really. the neckband pinches your head enough to keep them positioned on your head but not uncomfortably tight.i use them for cardio, weights, yard work, and never really have to reposition them.

I've had these for a couple of years and really like them (use them every day at work, use them to run with, etc.) They're the most comfortable in-ear type I've ever used. I often forget that I have them in. I wear them at work a lot, even if I'm not listening to music just to cancel out some of the noise.http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-AS40EX-Active-Headphones-Earbud/dp/B0015AFOR8/ref=sr_1_20?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1332357616&sr=1-20They come with three different sizes for the soft padding (large earbuds/earphones don't usually fit well in my ears so having the smaller option went a long way). And a couple sizes of the ear hangers, so you can really customize them to fit your ear and ear canal.Sound is pretty good, better on the low-end than I expected. They are as good as or better than any in-ear i've used.I would prefer a slightly longer cord because I carry my ipod in my pocket, but the extension it comes with takes care of that. I just loop it at the jack so it doesn't come out. If you wear you mp3 player on your arm or anything like that, it wouldn't be an issue at all.[Edited on March 21, 2012 at 3:31 PM.
