If Coach Tenuta got a thread to focus on his retention, Coach Lutz certainly deserves one too...Please stay and continue to be a standout recruiting scout and player coach for Gott!even though it is well known that you have the stock to be a HC somewhere else againaudio: http://charlotte.cbslocal.com/2012/02/16/nc-state-assistant-coach-bobby-lutz-i-wanted-to-retire-a-49er/http://www.fayobserver.com/articles/2012/02/20/1158690?sac=fo.sports

Absolutely. Part of the reason Gott has done so well is because Lutz is on his staff. Lord knows where our team would have been without him.

I wanted us to hire Bobby Lutz as head coach when we replaced Herb. Imagine if that would of happened. As you can all imagine I was overjoyed after finding out we had been hired him as an assistant by Coach G. Really hope he sticks around, hes a real asset to NCSU.

Used to go to church with this guy in Richfield, NC when he was coaching at Pfeiffer.

Let's not forget to give credit where credit is due. +11 credibility to Lutz as well.[Edited on March 11, 2012 at 6:56 PM. Reason : ]

I have always liked him as a coach and thus I am very happy to have him here.

1 more year lutz!
3/28/2012 10:45:57 AM
I think we get him for at least one more year. I just love watching him during the games. He's so goddamn entertaining.
3/28/2012 10:55:29 AM
So help me out. I have a friend that believes that Lutz is shady. He mentioned something about the recruitment of Michael Beasley as part of his reasoning. What is the skinny on this. I want to defend him but do not have all of the facts.
3/28/2012 11:00:33 AM
3/28/2012 11:02:34 AM
^^my friend, who attend unc-charlotte, told me all about that incident.... but i don't remember any of the details. he didn't seem to think it was lutz who was shady though, iirc.
3/28/2012 11:08:51 AM
YOU STAY AWAY FROM HIM, KANSAS STATE!
3/28/2012 11:09:05 AM
No way he moves his family twice in two years.
3/28/2012 11:43:04 AM
For a mediocre offer, no I don't think he moves. For a killer offer, his family would get over it.[Edited on March 28, 2012 at 11:50 AM. Reason : PS, his family still lives in Charlotte, so they did not move with him apparently.]

Yea my boss used to run the lighting and sound for Horton Arena and has also mentioned several times that we better watch it because Bobby is shady and was known for recruiting violations down there. Said he saw several things over the 3 or 4 years he was working around there that he thought were against the rules, but said he was still a nice guy.
4/3/2012 8:54:26 AM
^heresay.Ya gotta think he wants to stick around to be part of our final4 / NatChamp run. He would be in a waay better position to get a better coaching gig after one more year here than the opportunities he is currently listed for after this year...If/when he does jump ship, is it gaudio time?

PACK PRIDE TRANSFORMATION COMPLETE
4/3/2012 8:59:34 AM
Yeah, those lighting and sound guys always know the details of recruiting, they're typically part of the coaching inner-circle.
4/3/2012 9:00:06 AM
4/3/2012 9:04:09 AM
^^Well no shit he's not inner sanctum. But like most of us here, I don't follow UNC-C basketball. He is no fan of any local teams (yankee) but a pretty big sports guy and knows a helluva lot more about Bobby's history in Charlotte than I do. Just corroborating what scotieb24 had said, that I know somebody else who has said Lutz is shady.
4/3/2012 9:07:22 AM
i'll ask my unc-charlotte alumni buddy again about the beasely business and i'll report back

they're gonna have a football team in 2013!
4/3/2012 10:32:24 AM
Are they going to play against high schools the first year? So they can get practice? I bet they could even take the high school State Championship if they try hard enough.
4/3/2012 10:38:47 AM
yeshe updated me on how their soccer team got to the final four and the disparity of calls in their final match that they losthe is some kind of financially contributing, card-carrying member to their football program with priority seatingand of course follows basketball--According to him, the Beasley situation doesn't make Bobby Lutz shady at all. Let me tell you the story (from his memory):It all boils down to Delante Hill. Delante Hill played for Lutz back in the day and was Beasley's AAU coach - the two were very tight together. Hill got hired at UNCC and so Beasley committed to UNCC at 15 years old, and stayed committed throughout high school. All of the pieces started falling into place at UNCC and the program peaked. Bob Huggins (Thuggy Bear, apparently), the coach at the UNCC arch rival Cincinnatti, was fired. He was then hired at Kansas State. He beat out UNCC and hired Delante Hill to his staff for $500k, effectively doubling his salary. Beasley immediately decommitted from UNCC and committed to KState. Bobby Lutz took the high road and commented that this was just how college ball worked, but the damage was done. UNCC basketball began a drastic decline and Lutz was eventually fired. KState, meanwhile, became somewhat relevant nationally (his eyes glaze over and says "that could have been us...") while UNCC, well, became UNCC.So there's still bad blood between UNCC and Cincinnatti/Huggins/KState. He says you shouldn't talk about Beasley with a 49ers fan...you could say its the "Personal Fouls" of UNCC. He also mentions that he thinks Lutz will stay since there is still another year on the buyout (I thought it was done, but w/e) and because he may have a kid at NC State on the soccer team. He recruited Tyler Lewis at UNCC pretty hard so that's another good connection. He mentions that UNCC has a player off of Lewis's team too, Darrion Clark - PF.[Edited on April 3, 2012 at 10:49 AM. Reason : ^don't get him started on the football program, he's super excited about it ]

message_topic.aspx?topic=399448&page=1#8560798I've always thought a lot about Coach Lutz. Went to a lot of UNCC bball games in high school and he definitely was a heck of a coach. Even if he doesn't stick around 2 or 3 more years I think his work ethic and the way he dissects offensive sets can be passed down to some of our younger assistants.Don't forget Coach Early was at UNCC also.Dalonte Hill is back in DC recruiting for Maryland.
4/4/2012 8:38:01 AM
I spotted Coach Lutz Sunday afternoon as I was driving through North Hills. I wish I had rolled down my window and yelled thank you or something. With him being from NC and his daughter going to NCSU and all, I hope he'll stick around for a while.
