If there are any baseball gamers out there, this goddamn game is amazing. I picked it up on release day yesterday and played about six hours. I could not put it down. They completely re-did the ball physics and ball/bat sounds, so it is much more realistic. The graphics are already off the chain, but they have all these cool little close-up camera cuts now...pretty fucking hardcore.

i'm going to pick this up sometime in the next month or so. 2K knows how to make a sports game. suck it EA.

MLB 2K12 The Show: Mutant Football Tournament Edition
3/7/2012 11:00:17 AM
DalesDeadBug, 2K Sports makes MLB 2K12, which sucks huge amounts of cock...I picked that up on Sunday (2 days before release date, incidentally). The Show is the SCEA game for Playstation 3.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBzvgKuAgyQ
3/7/2012 11:10:44 AM
ah ok. i thought for some reason that 2K made The Show. that's the one i was going to pick up, not MLB 2K12.
3/7/2012 11:28:40 AM
MLB 2K sucks compared to The Show, and don't insult EA. EA knows how to make baseball games, MVP Baseball 2005 is one of the best sports games of all time. Fortunately, this is the last year for 2K's 3rd party exclusive license.
3/7/2012 1:17:52 PM
People tend to forget that LHB literally could not hit home runs in MVP05People also forget that EA is a fucking shit factory
3/7/2012 1:32:28 PM
They are now, but competition is always better. When Madden had to compete with NFL 2K, you saw more improvements. Since The Show competes against MLB 2K and is used as a system seller, you see improvements. 2K doesn't want to renew their exclusive license, I think more competition will be better especially for those of us that don't own a PS3.
3/7/2012 1:35:14 PM
Right, because we all remember idiosyncrasies from seven year old games. And bullshit anyway; I hit at least 40 with Cliff Floyd.
3/7/2012 1:35:31 PM
That was the biggest bug in any game I've ever played, of course I remember it.Lefties could not hit home runsThat's like if black guys couldn't dunk in an NBA game]
3/7/2012 1:42:58 PM
MVP 04 was the one with the LHB bug apparently, not 05.
3/7/2012 1:51:27 PM
Well, folks, looks like Ernie's wrooooooooong again
3/7/2012 2:01:50 PM
Yeah, MVP 04 was ok, but the bug killed it. MVP 05 was awesome. I think anything like that would be able to be patched nowadays.MVP should be back next year.In other news, I also picked up MLB 2K12, and it's not terrible, but not in The Show's league.
3/8/2012 3:05:46 PM
I don't see why you pick up both games, especially when you already know one is inferiorI don't go eat at Ruth Chris, then pick up Outback on the way home
3/8/2012 3:10:50 PM
Yeah, but sometimes you eat Ruth's Chris, sometimes you eat at OutbackSometimes you play The Show, sometimes you play 2K12Poor work, guy
3/8/2012 3:12:33 PM
Its two baseball games. Why would you ever play two baseball games simultaneously? It makes no sense. The only possible exception is a college game and pro game, not two pro games, with the same teams, same players, etc. If one game (the show) is clearly better, then when would you ever want to play the clearly shittier game?
3/8/2012 3:15:01 PM
The Show is where I do my franchise and stuff, but I really like the My Player mode of 2K. I also really enjoy the pitching mechanism for 2K, which adds to the fun factor. Two games, two different uses.
3/8/2012 3:24:28 PM
My Player is pretty rad. I'd pay $25 for a standalone version of that.
3/8/2012 3:24:36 PM
I can understand if its for different features; I overlooked that earlier. Also, The Shows online apparently sucks again (http://www.pastapadre.com/2012/03/07/online-issues-again-prevalent-with-the-show) and the new Diamond Dynasty doesn't impress either (http://www.pastapadre.com/2012/03/08/mlb-12-the-show-diamond-dynasty-impressions)Not a big deal for me, since I generally just play Exhibition and Home run Derby, but disappointing nonetheless.
3/8/2012 3:28:38 PM
My Player is unrealistic...I always end up playing catcher ~ because it helps my team out overall...unless you're the Twins[Edited on March 8, 2012 at 3:29 PM. Reason : ^so you bought a PS3 to play Homerun Derby?]
3/8/2012 3:28:50 PM
I been had a ps3
3/8/2012 3:45:17 PM
didnt you buy it for The Show 09 or 10 or something
3/8/2012 3:48:54 PM
Maybe, I can't recall, but it would be worth it alone for that reason
3/8/2012 4:01:50 PM
another reason 2K12 > The Show
4/6/2012 2:40:21 PM
lol who the fuck thinks 2K is better than The Show
4/6/2012 10:14:23 PM
I have $45 of credit at Gamestop and I'm thinking about picking this up used. Do you guys use the move functionality or just the regular controller? If you use the move, how well does it work?
