So I just launched http://www.easydrinkmixer.com which has the same concept as fridgn (which I just took down temporarily.) As I think this has a little more appeal and ease of use. The idea is you can just put in all your alcohols and mixers and it will return what drinks you can make. eg. rum + coke + lime juice = Cuba Libre ...I hit TWW up for input on what drinks were essential and tried to make sure that all of them are there. If you think of something essential that I am missing let me know. Thanks! And yes, I'll be purchasing an ad .Now back to my sick-day president's day

well, I think the most essential thing to do is to be remove the "coming soon" page and replace that with the real site

erg, DNS propagation has not completed it would seem >:| doh.

I'm waiting for the "that's not the right way to make a ______" fight.

Where are these ratings coming from?
2/20/2012 7:10:31 PM
This is actually a pretty cool idea

Holy shit that is a hideous siteThis would have been shameful in 1997

Why is the Find Recipes button in the login container? Above the form controls? Don't make me think, bro.[Edited on February 20, 2012 at 7:31 PM. Reason : 404s all over this motherfucker]

Good idea, there are a lot of other good drink mixer sites out there already, though, like http://www.drinksmixer.com/A few things you might wanna change:1. Make the text labels for the checkboxes.2. White grapes is on there twice3. Maybe simplify the ingredients. "Fresh lemon" and "lemon juice" are basically the same, yeah?4. I just tried the contact link; are you forilla the Pirate Captain??!

Design isn't so hot, but it's a great idea if it works.I would assume with this version you built in a way for us to save our bar collections right (i think with the last one a user would have to build it every visit...)

So yea, a few people have commented on the text. Anyone have a better suggestion for a font? Times New Roman!? no.Ernie: I'll put the find recipes button under the form controls... there will be less thinking.jbrick: The problem with fridgn is that there are way too many ingredients and they have stupid synonyms... so for Fridgn to work better there needs to be some better linking, and an even more extensive collection of recipes. Its just taking too much time to get it to work smoothly .The ratings are coming from what ever the source for the drink was. Ultimately I'd like to have it so people can rate them to get the ratings... that'd make more sense.Fatcatt: I agree with the text labels, and i'll kill off one of the grapes. Most of the ingredients are substitutions for each other, like fresh lemons has lemon juice attached to it, however lemon juice does not have fresh lemons, as some recipes call for muddling the fruit.Yes I am The Pirate Captain.

the text in the expanded liquor menus is easy on the eyes, but yeah the button text is a little too "neon bar sign" font and not enough easy to read...a little more contrast instead of just blue might help as wellseems like the theme looks like bar decor, which i get, but i think thats better left for just a main logo or something, and not the key use of the site

Just added some functionality and cleaned up the look a bit... It feels much more functional.Done procrastinating, back to crunching data.

What am I missing? I've selected my stuff on the left, but there are still drinks showing up with ingredients I don't have.
7/9/2013 5:30:41 PM
Right now it returns recipes containing ingredients you've selected, as opposed to recipes limited by the set you've selected.I removed the ajax end of it, right now its purely css3 and javascript for the click events...

Anyone got a good whiskey and coke recipe?I'm Krallum and I approved this message.

My granddad had an awesome one...I'll see if I can dig it up

7/9/2013 6:28:22 PM
^^ Cool. Why would we want a bunch of drinks that we might be able to make, instead of the ones we know we can? Seems like when I've seen this implemented before it defaulted to the ones you can make with the ingredients you have.^ +1, make that brighter
7/9/2013 7:39:29 PM
Thanks for the suggestions above! I've tried to heed all of them. The biggest one was getting the filter modes. One now works where you can input what spirits and mixers you have and it spits out the cocktails you can make. The other method returns all the recipes that have any of the ingredients you enter. So my question to you all, is how's it looking? Would you phrase the buttons better to choose between the two filter methods? Also now that you can search based on a set of ingredients that you have, what are some of your favorite cocktails with only a few ingredients? Right now the large majority of our cocktails have like 5 ingredients... So it takes a while to get search returns when you're looking for things you can make with what you have on hand. Thanks!Peace

either i don't know how to use it or you need more drink recipeslisted gin & lime juice as what i had then tried vodka & lime juice, neither resulted in a gimlet suggestion
9/18/2013 3:20:53 AM
^ Yea, That's the second part of what I'm asking for. What are the really basic drinks that are still awesome? Eg. a gimlet, so that when people have in 2 ingredients something pops up. Up to this point we've tried to avoid drinks with like 2 ingredients unless they are amazing. Anyone can take lemon juice and add it to rum and be like "A drink!" But, that doesn't mean it'd be good. If I can get like 10 suggestions we'll make and photograph them next week .Thanks.
