Franks is golden for wings and such, and Texas Pete is the best for BBQ.

I have a bottle of Srirachi, but I only use it for Kung Pao chicken. Can anyone recommend any other uses for it?

Sriracha isn't really hot sauce technically... but fuck, it's too good to not include.

I keep sriracha, Frank's, Texas Pete, Tabasco, and Cholula... got my bases covered.

I haven't found one I didn't like. I'm not too big on the green pepper's, but they are better than nothing, and my go to stuff is Texas Pete- I like that I can find it almost anywhere, and that it is an NC product

Sriracha. When I was in Milwaukee for Xmas '10, we drove to 5 different stores looking for it because my boyfriend and his brother in law inhale that stuff with everything.

I keep my Srirachi and Tabasco in the pantry, but put everything else in the fridge.

Strange how that works.

Ok, so I gotta ask since I ate at a firehouse subs last week...are the sauces just kinda random, or do they tend to be somewhat similar among locations? Furthermore, has anyone actually tried any of the sauces that are actually hot? Too much choice, not enough organization or explanation of what's what, and the only sauces I've ever tried are weak shit.

Holy shit. I've never seen this. I usually get the regular black label to put in salsas and dab on sandwiches. I can't wait to try this one. I love it HOT.

ghost pepper is so hot. The only sauce I've had with it was from Tijuana Flats and it was a little uncomfortable.

^^^^ i was talkin to the mgr at one by my house about the sauces and apparently they get them from some company that packages all these random sauces into a bundle. They do seem to have the same ones across locations.

Agreed. However it's not actually very hot. At the ones I've been to they have labels on many of the bottles with numbers on them. Higher number = hotter sauce.

I'm partial toward tapatío. It's not going to set anyone's palate on fire or anything but I like it because it doesn't have any vinegar. Occasionally a vinegar based hot sauce is fine, like for BBQ, but most of the time it is not. If I wanted vinegar on my food I would have used vinegar.

Cholula is also nice for that same reason.

I had some of this the other day and it was pretty good:

i used to go to the one near brier creek.. they had little stickers on the bottom of the bottles from 1-10 (or 11) that indicated hotness, but no real descriptions.

I'm not sure what it's called, but the hot sauce they have at Noodles & Company is really good (and very spicy).

sure, in some cases hot sauce can make food better, but usually it just overpowers whatever flavors are present in a dish.

i bet the majority of people in this thread that put hot sauce on everything are the same people who do the same thing with ranch, honey mustard, ketchup, etc. and that's because they can't cook for shit.

i don't think anyone is talking about putting hot sauce on a filet, and i'm pretty sure hot sauce is not going to overpower the flavor of my scrambled eggs. also it depends on what kind you use, texas pete and that green tabasco have hardly any heat and a strong flavor, so they are good to use on bland foods. some hot sauces add mostly heat instead of flavor. just depends on what you're looking for.

most of the ones i like have been posted, and this one isn't really a "sauce" but i am addicted! i went through a whole jar in just a few weeks

^^^agreed. i add hot sauce more for just a little heat than the flavor. though the flavor's not bad in my favorites, just not overpowering, imo. the chipotle tabasco is good for something blah, especially leftover chicken/rice or something similar.

have to +1 for the green tobasco.

Also some kids at NCSU used to make a sauce called "Sir Raleigh's Ghost" It was a super duper hot sauce with ghost peppers.
