My entire newsfeed is a constant stream of engagements, weddings & babies. This includes announcements, progress reports & finished product posts & pictures.

I'm actually happy & excited to see what my friends are up to & how their lives are progressing.

And I don't feel behind because I'm on a different track. It also helps that some of my closest friends are in the same place as me, which makes me feel less alone as a career-going woman.

The thing that sucks about being the single person when you have so many married friends with children, is the fact that no one wants to go hang out at the bar and stay out past 10 pm.

^Collages have nothing to do with married people being lame and no longer willing to stay out late to party.

I am honestly tired of the news feed.

I do care about engagements, marriages, child births, cancer diagnoses, deaths, etc.

I do not care about peoples kid crawling around not doing anything funny or special....no one else does either.

The worst is people putting their baby as the profile pic and then never posting another picture of themselves....look we are glad you are breeding but how about finding a decent pic of yourself for the main picture. Your identity was not wiped upon giving birth.

^thats a great point. I have 1 close friend with kids & she does an excellent job of NOT being the newsfeed overloader. In fact, it makes me more curious about her kids & ask for pictures. I went to visit her when she was pregnant (she lives overseas) and she hardly even brought it up. Obviously we weren't drinking & partying but I only remember her talking about it when I asked her if she was tired from walking & needed to rest or when I offered her a food she couldn't eat

Heres a question nobody seems to be asking, why are parents so willing to violate their child's right to privacy? Theres going to be a lot of pissed off kids in 10-20 years based on what retarded parents are posting on social media these days.

I think any reasonable expectation of privacy is given up considering the fact that they are constantly pissing and shitting themselves and someone else has to come clean their ass and change their diapers.

You think they are gonna be worried about the parents posting some benign photos of them on Facebook?

Facebook was initially designed as a party for college kids. Its now inhabited by technically inept / annoying grandparents, HS kiddies, new parents, mid life crises, etc -- its evolved into something that most of its users no longer enjoy like they once did back in 2004-2007. T-dub on the other hand has stayed exactly the same that it was in the early 2000s, @ncsu.edu for initial sign up or you have to fork over $ to register. You guys posting all your baby pics on T-Dub spamming up the chit chat feed? Grandma wants to rant and rave about Obama? Take it over to the Soap Box, Granny.

RIP Facebook.

I say the decline begins in the next 48 months.

Eventually it becomes like myspace, you login and 0 friends online.

It is also funny how a mothers relationship status totally controls the things she posts.

I am friends with this girl that abruptly left her husband recently. (not sure why but it was a clean break) Her entire facebook was pics of her kid in diaper, kid at the pool, kid taking a shit (not really that but might as well be) Just stupid pics in general.

Kids existence has totally changed, only pics are kid dressed up cute. If kid is not fully clothed and looking trendy you will not see the picture posted. Like mall looking clothes and stuff.

The pics of her are f***** bangin, no more tshirt and jeans holding the kid. She is dressed up and looking like she has a social life and is a mother.

What if someone could be a parent, and still care about the way they were perceived? What would happen then?

What pisses me off more than anything is when my female cousins get married and only put their married last name on facebook. Then some of them set their profiles to private. It's kind of hard to figure out who they are when they send you a friend request.

^I don't think they would do that. My sister put her first name, maiden name, and then her married name on facebook. This makes it less confusing for people who maybe haven't contacted her in a while.

I will be getting rid of my facebook account once I have a baby.

I want to pick and choose who sees those pictures...and I don't want to have to do that by going through my privacy settings. I'll do it by selecting from my email address book. Facebook has given the modern day attention whore WWWAAYYY too much ammo.

^^One of them found me. I didn't find her. I moved away from Iowa when I was 5 and a lot of my cousins from my dad's side of the family are about 10 to 15 years older than me, so I never got to know them all that well. We haven't kept in touch through the years, but facebook changed that and that is not a bad thing.

I guess I'm a dick for denying friend requests from family members. I don't want to keep in touch with family via facebook, I want to keep in touch with friends on facebook and speak in a way that I don't offend my parents. I also hate it when my parents become friends with my friends...they wouldn't be in touch offline, so there is no reason for them to be in touch online.

But otherwise, I agree that a lot of what I'm seeing is babies/weddings/engagements, but then I reduce the amount of that info that reaches my feed by limiting those friends. Once they stop spamming me with baby/marriage shit, I'll consider looking at what's going on in their lives again.

FB will suffer from the same thing TWW suffered/is suffering from. The 2004-2007 crowd will be the primary base, and will continue using it once everyone else has dropped. Parents of the 2004-2007 crowd will go to the nursing home thus stop using it so no more grandparents, and their kids won't use it b/c they don't want their parents watching what they do. Just by having their parents on there will be a deterrent. I don't see how investors thought it a good idea to get into FB when it went public.

I haven't had the need to log into my facebook in three years. I have no regrets about it. I may have missed a lot of contact from the "somewhat/kind of a friend" category that frankly I may have meet for a class or two, but never really developed a real friendship or relationship with that person so I have no need to see what they are up to or if they had kids or not.

The biggest thing is that once you start to add friends, then friends of friends, then anyone who seem to be "interesting", your news feed tends to get so cluttered of mass bullshit that it's all white noise and you can't find things that you actually want to see from friends. It turns into a more friendly "chit chat" section that is completely unmoderated.

My close friends and family tend to keep in touch with email, phone and skype. Cut out a lot of the clutter that I don't need.

An acquaintance on Facebook posted shots of her kid getting out of the tub today. I am sure he will appreciate his little baby ding being posted on FB for all the world to see. He's a mouth breather so he probably wouldn't understand anyways.
