Actually a cool idea. Cities that are walkable are excellent. I would love to see more sidewalks being built in Raleigh. I walk around Cary all the time, it's kind of enjoyable to take the dog for a 5 or 10 mile walk around greenways and sidewalks. Can't say I like the miniparks or the little parking meter coozies.

Yeah i'd prefer if we kept all the cool shit in carrboro. Raleigh is too redneck for cultureI'm Krallum and I approved this message.

In the spirit of Reclaim the Streets . Trying to make cities healthier, more interesting, and easier to navigatefor the non-motorist. Cool. My personal favorite is seed bombing vacant lots.

I had seen these and did not know they were "guerrilla"interesting

Saw these outside Global Village (I think it was).I thought it was some kind of propaganda so I didn't really look too intently at them. Joke's on me for being short-sighted.This is pretty (i.e. very, very) cool, methinks.

Too many hobos for me

^I kinda wish they would clean up Moore SquareProblem is that that mission there just keeps providing food over there. I'm not saying these people don't need help bit I don't think thats really helping to solve the problem
2/11/2012 11:31:19 AM
Can I sue them if it takes me longer to make the walk?
2/11/2012 11:50:08 AM

I liked the one on Hillsborough street telling me its only a 25 minute walk to Centennial. Fuck that.
2/11/2012 1:50:09 PM
Neat signs. Last summer I walked from Fayetteville Street to DH Hill. Didn't take me nearly as long as I expected it to. And I didn't get mugged

Walking is great if you're not in a hurry, but I like to bike instead. Call me lazy .

Raleigh isnt bad to walk through it is just not something most people would think of doing. I know people who live downtown and drive 4 blocks to work no matter the weather.

I think these are really cool. I walked everyone in college because I didn't have/need my car until I began my teaching observations. I walked all of Oberlin, walked to downtown, walked to Centennial, walked to University House. Even when I got my car, I left at the CV Harris Teeter and would just walk to get it when I need to drive to Centennial Campus Middle School or Athens Drive High School.Another neat addition would be maps of downtown that show you wear you are in reference to attractions/area, similar to what they have in malls. Although, this is likely unneeded thanks to smartphones.

If I think about it, 25 minutes is not a bad one-way distance if you think about distances in major cities. Most people in places like NYC or Chicago walk at least 15 minutes to a metro or subway stop, and then walk 10-15 min again to where they need to go.

The first one I saw was a friendly looking one that said "ITS A 17 MINUTE WALK TO CHAVIS HEIGHTS"I assumed that it was the work of enterprising young muggers/rapists.

pretty coolalso fyi specialkay, Byrn Stuff, etctheres this service called The Wolfline...
2/14/2012 9:13:31 AM
I liked walking. I saw more of the campus/surrounding area than riding on the Wolfline.

Probably didn't have to smell as much BO, too.

This graffiti should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Also, zip ties will not last outdoors, the plastic is usually not resistant to UV light.Furthermore, this is the south. Any double-digit walk times will be laughed at.

I would walk from NCSU to Peace all the time... ahhhhh memories

Love this idea. The city likes them as well and is looking into making them more permanent I believe.
2/14/2012 3:55:46 PM
The city took these down, due to lack of permits.[Edited on February 23, 2012 at 6:15 PM. Reason : mmhmm]

Mitch Silver says they hope to have them approved and back up again within a month
