Burr's frickin' contact page won't even load.Looks like SOPA is in full effect and is already censoring it.^Have you tried hitting stop before the redirect? Works wonders. [Edited on January 18, 2012 at 12:46 AM. Reason : .]

They just have contact forms from what i seehttps://forms.house.gov/kissell/contact-form.shtmlhttp://www.burr.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Contact.ContactFormhttp://www.hagan.senate.gov/contact/I wish Facebook would go dark, that's really the only way to truely get to everyone these days. At least wikipedia is doing it, and reddit and Google help as well.[Edited on January 18, 2012 at 8:41 AM. Reason : lkj]

Burr needs to beef up his site - it won't even load... Meanwhile Hagans still loads up like nothing is happening. Someone has a competent host, someone skimped [Edited on January 18, 2012 at 9:55 AM. Reason : theoatmeal/explosm/xkcd/slickdeals are blacked too]

Sen Burr = Staffer doesn't offer Sen Burr's opinion, but will pass along the messageSen Hagan = Co-sponsor of the bill, staffer defends with argument 'Piracy is bad and we can always amend the bill'About to call Rep. Ellmers
1/18/2012 12:50:10 PM
I've contacted some local folks who are more involved and have more stature with washington than I and filled their ears. A couple do plan on talking to our representatives about it.
1/18/2012 12:55:01 PM
Rep Ellmer and Rep Millers are both against the bill
1/18/2012 1:08:04 PM
1/18/2012 1:13:23 PM
the response i got from ron paul's office wsa pretty funny (he's my rep)pretty much an automated "yeah we don't agree with it, we appreciate your support if you're against it, if you're for it, we don't care"
1/18/2012 1:14:44 PM
I'm curious what everyone's interaction with Sen Hagan's office was like. She is a cosponsor of the bill. the staff I got said pretty much "Piracy is bad and this is the only way we can deal with it" [Edited on January 18, 2012 at 1:15 PM. Reason : k]
1/18/2012 1:14:47 PM
David Prices office told me he released a statement saying he is against it and i thanked them
1/18/2012 2:03:09 PM
so Mel Watt cosponsors it.
1/18/2012 2:14:16 PM
Just an fyi from personal experience:Price and Miller are pretty cool and will listen when you talk to them. Hagan and Burr are cunts.
1/18/2012 2:14:40 PM
No answer at Hagan's
1/18/2012 2:17:54 PM
here's what Im about to send to Rep. Price and Sens. Burr and Hagan pending a last readthrough for errors.
1/18/2012 2:22:33 PM
I'm starting to believe SOPA is just a hostage situation.
1/18/2012 2:28:30 PM
Not going to lie, I had to google 'onus'

^^^with your permission, i'd like to use that
1/18/2012 2:30:35 PM
Sen Hagan's staffer seemed to be reading from a script and not addressing anything beyond 'piracy is bad, we can always amend the bill'
1/18/2012 2:33:19 PM
^ exactly
1/18/2012 2:35:11 PM
This could be worth mentioning to Hagan's stafferhttp://www.politicspa.com/breaking-holden-withdraws-sopa-support/30899/

^^ I bought up SOPA to the Hagan's staffer 'Well, I'm not really aware about what is going on over on that side of Congress, however, in the Senate...." Convo was likeHim: Well, we can always amendMe: My concern though is that the amendments won't even be heard. For example during the December meeting of the house, Rep Polis tried to bring up numerous amendments, and the SOPA sponsor, Rep Smith kept shooting them down, what's to stop something like that in the Senate? Why start with such a flawed bill and hope to amend it when you can start over to a more viable solution to piracy"Him: Well, I'm not really aware about what is going on over on that side of Congress, however, in the Senate....

i put on my calendar every 18th for the rest of the year to make a phone call
1/18/2012 3:27:41 PM
you probably only need to do that until about july. after that nothing is moving for the rest of the year.except bills for flags and orphans. and flags for orphans.[Edited on January 18, 2012 at 3:28 PM. Reason : .]

I'm going to call Hagan's camp again in a bit on behalf of a friend overseas in a little bit. Should be fun.
1/18/2012 3:28:48 PM
just so you guys are aware, you are basically talking to the equivalent of a receptionist who makes roughly 22k/yr as the absolute bottom of the totem pole in a senate or house office. Anyone with any amount of authority doesn't answer the phone. So unless you have their personal email or office direct dial it's a little overkill to be having discussions with them.im not saying don't call. please do. its important. but don't waste your time any more than you have to. make the call, tell her you are a voter in NC and you dont support her position. that's really all you need to do. if you're sitting there arguing with them, i guarantee you they are fucking around on the internet and reading TMZ or whatever and occasionally saying scripted shit that they were told to say by the press sec or maybe the LD issued as the official statement/talking points.that said, im not going to be a dick and give out staffers emails because i know most of them, but if you do find any staffers names (CoS or LDs are usually good targets), most house emails work like: firstname.lastname@mail.house.gov and most senate emails are:firstname_lastname@senatorslastname.senate.gov[Edited on January 18, 2012 at 3:48 PM. good info, thanks
1/18/2012 3:44:51 PM
yup, that's my understanding of the system too. i'm wondering if they are really truly paying attention to this "day of outrage" or if they are just holding tight waiting for the storm to pass....and then back to business as usual
1/18/2012 3:49:43 PM
certainly the critical mass can and often will make a difference, especially in an election year. hagan's obstinate-ness is likely due to the fact that she is not in cycle this year (i think she's up in 2016, when you will definitely have forgotten about this issue more than likely), so she is basically in the senate equivalent position of Tupac, two middle fingers up, screamin' fuck the world no matter how many calls she gets. They are definitely walking it back, and the calls are making a lot of offices that ARE in cycle in the Senate, and of course all the House guys, a little jittery, enough to peel off cosponsors. I think I read earlier that even a couple Senate cosponsors rescinded, which is pretty solid.
1/18/2012 3:56:03 PM
got a message back from Brad Miller.
1/19/2012 5:52:07 PM
^nice
1/19/2012 6:44:13 PM
Are representatives normally nicer than senators because of their short election cycles? I mean the staffers at all the Reps. offices seemed so much nicer on the phone.
