Theyve vowed to fight it: http://open.salon.com/blog/watchingfrogsboil/2012/01/05/will_aclu_take_the_ndaa_bull_by_the_horns_or_milk_the_cowIt obviously takes more than a few days to form a legal battle. What has the ACLU done though that you disagree with...?

sucks that OWS is going to inevitably trash a perfectly nice downtown charlotte. :/

What I disagree with is that the ACLU "usually" only fights for perceived liberal civil rights causes, while completely ignoring more right leaning causes. I am no religious person, in fact im an atheist who despises the religious right and evangelicals, however I do respect the right of people to practice their religion freely. Id like to see the ACLU defend that right along with the separation of church and state (which i feel they take too far on many occasions). I would also like to see them support the rights of victims as much as they do offenders. Also, Id like to see them stand up for 2nd amendment rights as well. Now im not claiming to be an expert on the ACLU by any means, and maybe they have supported these things, but it does not seem to be as often as left wing causes.I will say +1 credibility for them if they are going to fight that NDAA though

So you're upset with them because of your preconceived opinion that you've never bothered to verify?

i pass these tards every day on the way to work.they havent really done anything except kill the grass at trade/alexander.i dont really ever see anyone out there either though. its just a deserted tent city... anyway, im more concerned about the 300+ mounted police and their horses shitting everywhere.maybe these hippies and form it into coffee cups, fire it, and sell them.

Care to explain how the Charlotte City Council attempting to prepare for the mass of humanity that is going to descend upon the city in 9 months makes them fascists? They haven't voted on anything yet, just took time at last night's meeting to hear public comments on the ordinances. And lest we forget, the newly elected City Council is comprised of 9 Democrats and 2 Republicans.

Does this mean the Fascists have won?http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/01/24/2953565/city-council-approves-new-protest.htmlLooks like those of us in Charlotte may only have 6 more days to enjoy the campsite down on Trade before all those empty tents are taken down.

^Yes they have. The police state begins on 1/30.

^^ I don't think the police state begins on Jan. 30 bc the city manager has to declare an "extraordinary event" for these new regulations to go into effect. Although the overnight camping ban does go into effect on the 30th, the first opportunity to test these new measures will probably be uptown during Speed Street or the July 4th celebration.
