Unknown sucked. In a vacuum, it was decent, but we've already seen Taken. You can't downgrade like that and expect people not to notice. If they came out in reverse order, it would have been perfect. The evolution of Neeson as an action hero. But now, its just a poor substitute. And January Jones, god bless her, but she's one of the worst actresses of our generation. Makes Maggie Grace's over-bubbly teeny bopper persona look inviting by comparison.

I saw the TV trailer for this and thought it looked pretty bad, saw the trailer for it at the movies this weekend and it looks a lot better. Worth a red box rental for sure.

^It is on youtube (although fairly crappy quality) if you look for it.

Overall I really enjoyed this movie. A pretty good change of pace for Liam Neeson's "Kill everything" normal type of movie. Very suspenseful and not over the top at all. The plane crash scene had to be probably the most well made plane crash scene I've ever seen in a film.

SPOILERS

The part when the guy was crossing to the tree and he lost his glasses and the part when the guy drowned were both very intense and probably some of the best edge of your seat suspense I can think of.

I liked it, but definitely agree with the "heavy" comment. Not what I was looking for on a Sunday afternoon, but there weren't any good comedies out. The girlfriend wanted to punch me in the face as we were walking out.

In reality he would have most likely died of hypothermia long before he fought the alpha wolf. After falling in the river he would have needed to strip naked out of his freezing soaked clothes, make a fire, and thus dry said soaked clothes

the same reason people fall asleep after sex

you had a climax, followed by calm conversation with orchestral music, then another climax, followed by peaceful snowfall and quiet conversation, then howling. rinse and repeat

yes, there were intense scenes -- no disputing that

You guys are really bitching about the hypothermia?? It's a fucking movie.

- They shouldn't have survived the plain wreck.

- There's no way they shouldn't have frozen to death the first couple of nights.

- The wolves should have EASILY caught them in that first run to the woods.

- The wolves could/should have killed them at any point in the movie.

- No way that rope made of clothes withstands those men climbing across it.

I mean...fuck. Go watch national geographic so your panties won't get in a wad.

I was absorbed into the movie the entire time, and felt like I was literally there lost in the wilderness awaiting my grim fate, along with the characters. Definitely the most "edge-of-my-seat" i've felt in a movie in a long time. 9/10.

There's so many haters on this site, so let em hate.

I could ignore all that.

Its the jump the guy made to get into that tree that was complete horseshit. He went at least 20 feet horizontally but only falls 5-10? Ha.

Other than that, loved the movie. The ending.....I mean, if thats the story arc, you cant really end it more dramatically. Leaving the audience wanting more.

It doesn't really mean anything. He falls asleep in just about every movie I've seen with him.

I thought this was fucking retarded. That plane crashed and the dude doesn't lose his glasses. But then when he's crossing over the ravine on a rope they just happen to fall off? GTFO.

END SPOILER

Jesus, I learned my lesson.. You bring a girl to a movie like this, there's any number of things she could complain about that would be perfectly reasonable. The gore, the profanity, the lack of any female screen presence whatsoever (save for his wife, who had probably the easiest role in film history, lie down for five minutes of screentime and whisper some bullshit). Complain about any of that and I'll understand. Its a guy flick and you only came as a tit for tat after you dragged me to that Kathryn Heigl abortion last week.

But as we're leaving and all the way home, all she rants about is Liam Neeson's fingernails. They're kinda short and stubby in a Dwarf/Hobbit/Downs Syndrome sort of way, so I understand the rationale. But listening to her, you'd think dude had fucking talons. I cut my nails, try to avoid the tempation to bite them, etc, but I never knew it could be such a point of contention. Do other people obsess over this?

Other than that, I enjoyed it, save for the part where they didn't try to craft some makeshift machetes from the plane wreckage. Yeah, just walk across the barren wasteland with a hiking stick, that'll show 'em.

Couldn't even finish this.

Downloaded a copy that got leaked to the internet. Got about an hour in and just gave up.
Just way to slow, and them running from the wolves got old after awhile when it was the same thing over and over.

If I had gone to see it in the theater I wouldn't have walked out, but being that I downloaded it for free, and was not confined to a theater, I just decided I could spend my time doing something else.

It's not that it was horrible, it just wasn't good IMO

I guess I went in expecting it to be more like The Edge, so that might have something to do with it.
