Anybody seen this movie? I don't see many at the theater, but this one looks like it might be worth it. The reviews are great, but it's not selling many tickets (not always the best gauge), so just wanted to see what TWW thought. "Synopsis: Let the Right One In director Tomas Alfredson takes the helm for this adaptation of John Le Carré's novel about an ex-British agent who emerges from retirement to expose a mole in MI6. England, 1973: British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) head Control (John Hurt) and his top-ranking lieutenant George Smiley (Gary Oldman) are both forced into retirement after a mission involving respected secret agent Jim Prideaux (Mark Strong) turns unexpectedly deadly. As the Cold War continues to escalate, suspicions............."http://movies.msn.com/movies/movie/tinker-tailor-soldier-spy.2/

looks awesome but I don't see any way to get a viewing of it unfortunately.
12/25/2011 9:08:02 PM
Looks incredible. It will be shown at the Galaxy in Cary. Best theater in the state, imo.]
12/25/2011 10:21:12 PM
have you been to every theater in the statethe projection at galaxy was pretty terrible last time I wentI haven't heard much from real people on this movie. I've heard one person say it was it was either boring or hard to follow, or maybe both, I don't remember. I'll still probably see it eventually.

O dang. I need to see this. Really liked the book, interesting to see a modern take on it (yes I know it will be set in that time, but modern production/actors/etc.)
12/27/2011 6:48:20 PM
Just wait for it to be released next Friday theater wide.
12/29/2011 3:29:46 PM
I am sure some people will love this movie, but it is very slow moving. I have been looking forward to it for some time and came away disappointed (though it is not terrible). Never read the book, but in retrospect if I had the choice of book vs movie, I think I would enjoy the book more.

It's not a fast moving book by any means. And there were a few places that I can think would become hard to follow in the transition from book to film. Still want to see it.

this looks worth going to san francisco to see... will probably do that sometime this week while i can still go see movies in the middle of the day.
12/30/2011 3:33:04 PM
I'm glad it's finally getting general release - been waiting to see this since I saw the preview months ago.
1/1/2012 9:19:41 PM
went to see it last night. I think I was awake for maybe 10 minutes in all.
1/14/2012 3:14:36 PM
it was leaked online so i downloaded it and watched it. gotta say i was really glad i didn't spend the money to see it in the theatre; was very difficult to follow especially in the beginning. i got the book so i think i will read that and hopefully it is better. i heard the movie condensed so much from the book due to time contraints so a lot of information was left out.
1/15/2012 12:59:37 PM
I passed out 20 mins in.
1/15/2012 2:03:37 PM
Slow as balls.
1/15/2012 2:18:56 PM
Pretty good. A little slow and a little hard to follow but it was clearly very well-made. The 70s look and feel of the film is really cool and the way the story answers its central question is very unique and interesting. I don't think I'm spoiling anything for anyone when I say that the ultimate culprit is the system; it's a story about corruption. Good film.

My bf insisted on seeing this at a 10:30pm showing.... He normally goes to bed around 9 so I indulged him. I was bored out of my mind & had trouble following the story. The bf obviously knew more about the history surrounding it and absolutely loved it. I feel bad that the price of admission was wasted on me especially for an evening ticket
1/17/2012 7:37:51 PM
watched this the other day. well tried to. i kept hoping it would pick up. after an hour i gave up.
1/24/2012 4:54:36 PM
I enjoyed it but this sums it up pretty well.
1/24/2012 7:33:40 PM
Holy shit some up of you people need to stick to Jason Statham/Paul Walker flicks. Really good movie.
1/26/2012 5:30:21 PM
Sweet jesus this movie was unbearable. The only reason I didn't walk out was because I kept waiting around for something to make it worthy of the reviews...in retrospect I should've walked out and saved myself an hour or two of my life. There is zero character development and you get the feeling that, in the name of condensing the story into a two hour movie, hours of important plot developments have been skipped over in between scene changes. Pick up a 30 chapter book with a complex plot, read chapters 1, 8, 12, 16, 22, and 30..that's how watching this movie feels. The cinematography and acting are nice, the movie itself...an absolute disaster.
1/29/2012 11:10:49 PM
started watching this last night and fell asleep about 30 minutes in...but not from boredom as much as beer, gonna start over tonight
5/9/2012 11:59:29 PM
got this from redbox recently and couldn't do it. turned it off about 45 minutes in. waste of time.

48 minutes in, awesome movie now that i'm awake for it
5/11/2012 3:31:44 AM
so yeah, was a really good movie, had to turn up the volume kinda high though and still didn't pick up on every detail...but good stuffand as was mentioned, it was based off a book...and there were actually a total of 3 books, this was the first one...they also made it into a british tv series in the early 80s which starred Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi) as Smiley, and Patrick Stewart as Karla, though he obviously didn't have a big on-screen role
5/11/2012 5:41:55 PM
great movie - as stated above the audio left some to be desired and made it a bit hard to follow. I really enjoy that they didn't try to dumb it down.
5/11/2012 8:20:49 PM
Just saw this last night. Beautifully shot, great performances, but never in my life have I had a harder time following the plot of a movie.
3/23/2013 10:35:50 AM

3/24/2013 12:12:14 PM
^^ also agree
3/24/2013 3:10:12 PM
yeah, i gave up and went to sleep
3/24/2013 3:25:24 PM
if you watch it again it's painfully clear what's going on. you're embarrassed you ever struggled w/ it. that was my experience, anyway.
3/25/2013 1:42:57 AM
wouldnt say painfully clear, but if you watch it with a couple hours to spare, and you're not sleepy, its a great movie
3/25/2013 2:08:51 AM
Finally watched this last night. Best movie I've seen in ages. And I don't get the problem following it.

8/22/2013 7:33:16 AM
Cumberbatch's voice is just tops
8/22/2013 2:42:14 PM
This is a movie that I enjoy rewatching, which to me is a test of a really good movie.
