I can't tell if Walter should be yelled at for giving such horrible advice, or commended for putting it in such a shitty thread. The last time I looked (~8 months ago) something like this wasn't possible for less than $100. Although seeing something like this, it says it supports HDCP so, it might actually work. I don't know for sure.]

^Those cables are not scams. If I remember correctly there were a few ATI cores that would allow use of such a cable, and included one in the box (I have an AverMedia TV capture card that included one of those.)Another (possible) use would be if you had existing cabling run through a wall/ceiling and wanted to upgrade your equipment. You could use the existing in-wall cabling to transmit a newer HDMI signal by using one of these on each end.But 99.9% of the people who buy them have no idea HDMI doesn't work the way they think.

No, they're not technically scams, but they are most likely always sold under misleading pretenses (i.e. they might be useful for anyone except for a very small group of people) I just thought it was an amusing video and likely something that would be appropriate advice for someone looking for an "Hdmi to av" cable.]
