that teaser trailer is pretty sick.
12/22/2011 12:56:03 PM
Riddley Scott is being pretty smart by taking the xenomorphs out of the movie and bringing in new creatures / story elements but still keeping it grounded in the ALIEN HR Giger world. Looks like we will be getting a movie that will fall somewhere between the first two movies in relation to the horror / action mix. I haven't been this pumped about a summer blockbuster since Episode I...with less chance of being disappointed this time around!

1. Love Ridley Scott, will see anything he directs2. Guy Pearce is one of the most overlooked/under-rated actors, he's awesome (except for that Snowy River Saga shit from australia)3. I'll let Michael Fassbender journey to my darkest corners anytime what a hottie
12/22/2011 1:29:49 PM
I cannot waaaait to see this!!!
12/22/2011 2:06:28 PM
They better not botch the whole series with some wonky backstory about xenomorphs just being a branch of humans with midochlorians.
12/22/2011 2:08:22 PM
I'm hoping it's more...oh, humans finally figured out how to find us, the all knowing creators of life and death...*pushes xenomorph reset button* sits back and watches the chaos unfold.[Edited on December 22, 2011 at 2:25 PM. Reason : HD Trailer is up: http://youtu.be/sftuxbvGwiU]

How do we know there will be no xenomorphs?[Edited on December 22, 2011 at 3:24 PM. Reason : question mark]

This looks pretty amazing.

did anyone notice that the ship that is crashing at the end of the trailer is the space jockey's ship?[Edited on December 22, 2011 at 4:02 PM. Reason : and you see the Space Jockey chair in the 0:44 second mark]
12/22/2011 3:55:24 PM
^yep, of course. It's in that gif posted a little back too.
12/22/2011 4:09:09 PM
well you already saw from the trailer what looks like fields of some kind of pod but mechanically built (not organic egg sacks)you see it at the 0:27-0:29 mark of the trailerhowever, in buzzkill fashion, some sites are reporting that this is supposedly set in the future and has no prequel relationship to Alienhttp://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1676437/prometheus-trailer.jhtml

Let's see, great actors, great director, movie universe already well fleshed out, plot focuses on one of the more interesting mysteries in cinema(space jockey), and it's got great CG. Will watch. Will be great.

Xenomorph to me is the alien after it exits the host.I am pretty sure the face huggers are not included under xenomorph simply because they only come out of a queen and all the face hugger eggs turn into 'xenomorphs' and not face huggers. In the games and movies the face huggers are never referred to as xenomorphs.'Morph' would also reflect the 'mature' aliens ability to take on the traits of its host. So, there will be no mature aliens. There most likely will be face huggers.

maybe i've just not followed this series as closely as i thought i had, but wtf is a space jockey?
12/22/2011 9:20:21 PM
^ It was the name given to the alien creature petrified into the pilot's seat of the spacecraft where the facehugger eggs were first discovered in ALIEN.This guy:

12/22/2011 9:38:03 PM
Huh. It looks like the head of the space jockey is on the operating table in one of the screenshots. That's mighty interesting.
12/23/2011 1:57:46 AM
There is a lot of talk that the Space Jockey seen in ALIEN is just a suit housing a humanoid creature. Check out the the dude standing on the right side of this frame:

woo looks kinda like metroid
12/23/2011 4:13:56 PM
what is this "space jockey" you nerds keep rabbling about?
12/23/2011 8:04:27 PM
Chicken or egg thought: I wonder if this movie is considering the AvP movies as canon. I hope not. The writers may have created a problem if so, since the AvP movies were set in present day. Are the people in Prometheus "searching" for something because of some past company knowledge? I'm probably reading too much into this.
12/24/2011 12:40:30 PM
Do the humans in Alien have FTL travel?
12/24/2011 2:48:40 PM
i wouldn't think so because they hibernate for so long
12/24/2011 2:50:18 PM
if they travel at 2x speed of light, would still take years to get there. Or at least outside the ship. What about inside?Still need hibernation?
12/24/2011 4:29:50 PM
12/24/2011 10:13:56 PM
^^ but they say ripley was only gone for like 60 years between the first and second movie[Edited on December 25, 2011 at 11:52 PM. Reason : nvm, light years is distance anyway]
12/25/2011 11:51:12 PM
watched the first one again tonight. I see how a lot things could tie into a good prequel.
12/26/2011 12:47:56 AM
Between the 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd I think they were drifting and not traveling. So the 60 years thing isn't a function of the norm travel in that universe. They probably go over travel in the books better. Whether that's 'official' or not I'm unsure.
12/26/2011 1:05:30 PM
^Yeah, in Alien she climbed into the hibernation booth thing in the escape pod after the original ship exploded. Paul Reiser said in Aliens that she had been drifting around without guidance for 60 years.

Is it normal to have a raging hardon after seeing the preview?
12/28/2011 6:10:29 PM
http://www.prometheus-movie.com/community/forums/topic/471#6330A fun read about HR Giger creation of Space Jockey.
12/29/2011 9:21:33 AM
I'm a little dissapointed its going to be PG-13. All the good alien movies have been "R" rated.
12/30/2011 1:21:03 PM
In an interview he said that they filmed it with an R in mind but will have both versions ready for screening to FOX executives before release. So there will be an R version, but we might not see that movie until Blu-Ray/DVD release.

gordon freeman is a chick now?
1/17/2012 12:41:05 PM
PG13 in 2012 is often worse than R in 1979.
1/17/2012 2:24:08 PM
That's pretty rare but in the few instances it's true it's because they didn't have PG13 in 1979
1/17/2012 2:28:38 PM
I like watching PG movies from the 80's that dropped F bombs like Beetle Juice and Big
1/17/2012 2:55:58 PM
Or Airplane and Airplane 2 with gratuitous tits.
