I'd rather discuss something more useful... instead of a paroty troll thread in response to DeltaBeta


Let's turn this into a thread about what it would take politically and technologically to explore the universe and colonize the stars

I'll start:

I think in the 100 - 200 years we'll have the capability of reaching the stars... but morally do we have any reason to do so and start preparing for such travels?

I think that once you start speaking on the multiverse level you can't really say this proposition, intelligent life that has a role in our existence, is improbable.

For our own universe, we can be pretty sure that life originating from Mars is a good bit less probable than starting on this Earth, and for several reasons the idea of an advanced form of life creating our original cellular structure or anything else like that won't make useful predictions for now.

But we don't have a clear basis for the fine tuning of the universe and interactions beyond our current physical constraints and the big bang are complete unknown unknowns. Plus, the anthropic principle is whack.

Regardless of how probable it is, improbable is not the same thing as impossible. If pack_bryan could demonstrate that he can tell the difference, then we could elevate this conversation quite a bit.

Unless we had evidence to suggest the proposition is true, why wouldn't it be reasonable to suggest it's improbable? What kind of probability would we assign to an unknown unknown besides an infinitesimal value (serious question)?

I have never once said it was impossible. I am saying I will never believe in the existence of any deity until reproducible, verifiable evidence for it is found. You have been making the claims for it, without any evidence, mind you, and THEN saying others are unwilling to even accept it in the realm of possibility.
