And I am only 31. My dad is 60 and my mom is almost 58. Neither have ever hit a deer in their life while driving and they grew up out in the country in Iowa too. I guess I just have bad luck.

I think it has less to do with your luck and more to do with the fact that you're driving Pontiacs

^The Firebird was my first car after high school and only cost $9,500. That is not a time in life when most people can be picky about what they want to drive. The Grand-Am was bought after I went back to college. I didn't have a lot of money then either. That was about $10,000 too.

^^Most other cars that compared to these were even a little more expensive. When I bought the Grand-Am there was a Saturn on the lot that they showed me which was abot $12,000+ in price.

http://www.nationwide.com/watch4wildlife

Nationwide alone paid $66.1 million in animal collision claims over the last 3 years. This doesn't count people who swerved to miss animals resulting in a different type of collision, just the ones that hit them. What does that mean to you? You're not alone.

Also interesting to note - Wake County ranks as the 2nd most affected county behind Mecklenburg.

But then again, they'd probably have to legalize sodomizing corpses
to make it worth your while.

I've had two deer collisions and a dog ran into the side of my car while I swerved to miss it on the interstate, then a jackass rear-ended the shit out of my car in morning traffic. All of that happened between 2008 and 2009. But I live in the backwoods of SC where large animal encounters are much more frequent than Apex. You're probably just a shitty driver that should pay more attention to the deer on the side of the road before it's too late.

one of my buddies just hit a deer on his lifted jeep 4x4. Was so pissed, he took the dead deer home for dinner. Although, he is getting a $3k check to fix it.

I've hit one on my motorcycle at 18 and clipped another dear in a car at 22. Both in Apex area.

I've seen lots in the triangle here lately. I saw a group of 8-10 this past Saturday and you always see a few near Lake Crabtree.

My own theory is that General Motors spent millions in research to train and selectively breed deer to seek out their cars and destroy them, that way the owner would be forced to by another one of their vehicles. Once GM realized that most people just ended up buying a better car it was too late, the trained deer had already infiltrated the native deer population.

Make that 3 in 11 years with all 3 cars that I have owned! My parents grew up in northern Iowa on farms and then moved to Wake County NC in 1985. They have combined for 0 deer strikes so far. I am 37 and have already hit 3. This one isn't too bad. It rammed my back passenger door and put a dent in it and maybe a few minor scratches.

50 near Garner. It ran into the side of my car and put a small dent in the back passenger door. How the hell does a person in their late 30's manage to hit 3 deer in 11 years? This is getting annoying. I almost made it past, but she kept running and rammed me. I honked the horn and drove across the yellow line to try to avoid her, but I couldn't. My parents are in their 60's and still have combined for 0 deer strikes.

That sucks. I've hit two deer and there was only a year in between them. That was a few years ago so hopefully they stay away. Both times were in times/places you wouldn't expect (well I didn't expect it anyways).

First was on 55 near 540. I was in the right lane heading towards apex in afternoon rush hour going about 20 mph. Deer came from the left so it crossed the lanes going the other way, the median, and then all the lanes except mine

Second was near downtown Apex. Was driving through some neighborhood roads trying to avoid traffic on 55 to pickup my kids from school in the afternoon and a deer bolts out of someone's yard right in front of me. I hit it and it flew into someones fence.

Railed one at about 50-55mph around Lake Gaston about five years ago.
Almost hit one about a month ago on fucking Centennial Parkway.

^^Lucky for me no one was coming from the other direction, so I was able to drive across the yellow line. Had I not been able to do that it may have been bad and taken out a headlight. At least I can drive it around for a week, or two until I can get in somewhere.

Only one close call with a deer over a decade ago, but I stopped a few feet from it.

Did run over a bear once though. He ran into the side of the truck in front of me and then I ran over him with my wheels. Did no damage to the truck in front (hit his tire we think) and he was on the ground when I hit him. Fucker got up and walked off too when we went back to find him there was no trace and no blood.
