Ivy vs Public Ivy
11/14/2011 4:03:27 PM
can't think of a good reason why this would be on television, but i'm not going to argue it. Princeton has some size (don't know if they're any good though), so they should present more of a challenge for our big men in the post game and rebounding.
11/14/2011 4:08:28 PM
remember when we are 1-5 all time vs princeton and that we also had a princeton style coach for the better part of a decade [Edited on November 14, 2011 at 4:10 PM. Reason : ,]

^^^^Didn't we beat Villanova to win it?Edit: Just checked, we beat Rider, S. Car, and Nova to win the 2007 Old Spice thing. Granted, it's not the best competition, but Nova was ranked #19 at the time.[Edited on November 14, 2011 at 4:34 PM. Reason : ]

our schedule is pretty tough so in the long run this game is not too bad. The key compared to last year is get up and stay up big, and don't let a team like this make a game of it. Lets drop a hundy on them smart asses!!

Well, its been a while, but I thought Herb always ran a modified Princeton style game...But I just did a search, and if you believe Herb, it was only in his last year. Maybe I am just remembering the boring as shit to watch basketball and lumping it in with the princeton style.[Edited on November 14, 2011 at 5:02 PM. Reason : .]

Classmate of mine up here in Philly went to Princeton. I would like to be able to talk shit to him when I see him on Thursday in our internal med class. He's pretty cool actually. He's not a nerd, but every now and then he can definitely fit the preppy stereotype associated with Ivy League schools.More shit talking opportunities for me include Syracuse, Clemson, Maryland, FSU, Vandy, Indiana, Virginia, VT, and potentially Texas if the cards fall right.I will be at the Legends Classic Sat with a UT alum. Hopefully both her Longhorns & State win so that we can exact revenge on Rick Barnes and I can talk shit, haha There are some UNC & Duke alums here too, but I can only talk shit to them in football usually [Edited on November 14, 2011 at 10:11 PM. I mean, I'm not saying I want him back or anything...but we were better than 90% of teams that try to run a more up-tempo game at the time. How'd I know that a game against Princeton would revive this argument?
11/16/2011 11:03:02 AM
Princeton is likely the toughest team we've faced yet. We have a history of playing really poorly against smart teams. However, I like our chances a lot this year. Offensive: We've really moved the ball well so far and that bodes well against a team that isn't very athletic. We should be able to get to the line a ton in this game and I'd expect the perimeter to be open as they pack it in down low. FT's and open 3's is usually a recipe for success.Defensive: Princeton has turned the ball over a LOT (nearly worst in the nation) but they're also a great three point shooting team. This is interesting because the reason we sucked defensively under Lowe is because we never forced turnovers and we typically struggled guarding the perimeter. I'd expect us to create turnovers but have trouble guarding the threes. If we lose it's because we didn't succeed at either.Rebouding: Princeton is a prety bad rebounding team so we should be able to hammer them on the boards. Usually three point shooting teams have a lot of long rebounds and we have athletic perimeter players to chase those down too. Tournament Implications: It's a must win. We're looking like a .500 conference team so we've got to win all of these type games plus 1-2 of the high profile games (Cuse, Vandy, Stanford, Indiana)
11/16/2011 11:08:05 AM
I expect my favorite player to set up some more earth shattering screens and pull down a lot of extra boards. I expect him to do nothing offensively and come away with <5 points, all scored off free throws.
