10/28/2011 10:43:31 AM
I will definitely be getting dat 190% VIP again.Fuck, it's my turn to pay for the tickets this year
10/28/2011 11:16:19 AM
Yay for tickets sales before lineup/booking.
10/28/2011 11:56:26 AM
that's pretty standard fare for festivals.
10/28/2011 11:57:21 AM
Huh?
10/28/2011 3:17:03 PM
10/28/2011 3:22:38 PM
i've been clamoring for something like this.awesome.
10/28/2011 3:39:43 PM
stoked about the presale
10/28/2011 4:33:25 PM
it only took Scrumples three posts to bitch about something[Edited on October 31, 2011 at 10:31 PM. Reason : bitches gonna bitch]
10/31/2011 10:30:55 PM
to be fair, at least he kept it < 1000 words.what dastardly trick does hopscotch have up its sleeve this year, i wonder?
10/31/2011 11:40:43 PM
Pretty sure it's a legitimate complaint to expect at least a partial lineup when your investment after ticket purchase, hotel, food and misc. add up to around $400 or better.Dare I say the word pretentious here. Even when Coachella switched to this format this year, people bitched about it, and the lineup for both Hopscotch's combined doesn't add up to half of who Coachella had...Do what you want with your money. But I think this is a big turnoff for me...
10/31/2011 11:49:51 PM
you are free to wait until the lineup is announced to buy your ticketsnobody will stop you from waiting
11/1/2011 12:02:41 AM
I mean, I understand all that. I'm saying it's legitimate to call this a little pretentious, and to not want to roll dice in this situation.
11/1/2011 12:05:51 AM
i agree that everyone has free will
11/1/2011 12:07:30 AM
k
11/1/2011 12:08:05 AM
I know/worked with the girl who is doing the spreading arms thing on the main page.
11/1/2011 12:08:16 AM
Every music thread is horrible now.
11/1/2011 12:32:59 AM
Robocop 3 is horrible, too. I think I should have said there's no way I'd ever buy tickets to this thing without them being VIP, and I'm sure the VIP will sell out before a lineup is even announced. Important part of my argument that I made assumptions about.
11/2/2011 12:26:17 AM
I generally trust in their selection of artists, and if doing this helps them get the best lineup they can, I'm okay with it.
11/2/2011 7:42:32 AM
If the pre-sale email says "COME ON, MOTHERFUCKERS" for a paragraph, I'll buy tickets right then and there.
11/2/2011 9:47:04 AM
11/2/2011 9:57:59 AM
That's why I was saying it's pretentious. I'm sorry, but I don't think anybody should think Hopscotch is on the same level as those other festivals; for many reasons.
11/2/2011 9:59:53 AM
oic
11/2/2011 10:07:31 AM
Maybe it will be one day?
11/2/2011 11:20:52 AM
nah it's too crowded and noisy
11/2/2011 11:27:53 AM
...and the venues are too small.
11/2/2011 11:29:54 AM
it's a great festival. selling tickets before announcing the lineup gives them more money to book better acts. not seeing the downside of this.....also, i am really proud of hopscotch for the new lifetime VIP contest. way to encourage community involvement in others.http://hopscotchmusicfest.com/news/post/hopscotch-partners-with-activate-good/
11/2/2011 6:54:57 PM
11/2/2011 7:33:51 PM
Scrumples (and his ilk) deciding not to buy tickets is probably the best thing that could possibly happen to Hopscotch
11/2/2011 7:39:47 PM
hoping for a better city plaza lineup this year.
11/2/2011 8:12:17 PM
I kinda want to win that contest and PM settledown every year as a reminder.Registering now. Really? A transgender option for gender?[Edited on November 2, 2011 at 8:42 PM. Reason : k]
11/2/2011 8:26:27 PM
speaking of City Plaza, I listened to a promo of that Dreamers of the Ghetto (did anyone even see them?) album last time I worked at Schoolkids. man was it bad.
11/2/2011 8:43:01 PM
Well duh.
11/2/2011 8:45:24 PM
My username is Settledown Syndrome on there if you wanna look me up at the number of hours I'm about to crush out until the contest deadline.
11/2/2011 8:54:44 PM
do they really need to add more bands? how about scale down, but get better bands
11/9/2011 10:13:01 AM
Agree completely. Moogfest had half the bands, and I was still overwhelmed. What'd you feel about that?
11/9/2011 10:16:04 AM
[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 10:22 AM. Reason : whoops clicked it twice]
11/9/2011 10:20:45 AM
Yeah, I totally agree with Scrumples and Wiseau here. Moogfest accomplishes more with half the bands (although, part of it is that they probably have much deeper pockets).Just seems like a super dumb idea...people were overwhelmed and slightly disappointed by all the conflicts last year? LET'S ADD MORE BANDS AND MORE VENUES IT'LL BE AWESOME!!!
11/9/2011 10:21:48 AM
The only thing this resolves is the crowds, which I've bitched about already. If it makes a little room in the venues, that's a definite plus for me. But if they add 219301239 local bands that nobody wants to see, they're doing no one any favors.
11/9/2011 10:25:48 AM
i've never heard of any of these bands.
11/9/2011 10:33:11 AM
This band here is DEAD.
11/9/2011 10:37:28 AM
I've only been to the Longview Center for a wedding, but there's no way they're putting any full rock bands in there. I think this is an effort to broaden stylistically, and be able to better assemble and serve "quiet" bills without having to shoehorn two quiet acts and two not-as-quiet acts on to a bill at a rock club.
11/9/2011 11:45:26 AM
I wish Swans would have played there last year.
11/9/2011 1:53:10 PM
Added the CAM to the venue roster.
11/15/2011 12:50:08 PM
Hopscotch Winning Poster 2011 yall.
11/18/2011 12:32:23 PM
holla
11/18/2011 12:34:52 PM
I'm going to submit an illustration of someone taking a shit on stage next to a microphone for the Hopscotch 2012 poster. Will yall vote for me?
11/18/2011 12:36:10 PM
i thought you werent attending since it was big turnoff and what not for early tickets
11/18/2011 12:37:47 PM
I can still submit a poster, can't I?
11/18/2011 12:38:37 PM
