So we are going to the Dominican Republic on Saturday for 7 days and 6 nights. The weather is suppose be 70s and 80s during the day and like low 70s at night. Currently they are also calling for rain most of the week plus, I'm a girl, I obviosly will over pack....but I would like some advice on things I should pack that would be versatile, lightweight and appropriate. Any help will be appreciated!!!

When I went to SE Asia for a month I packed three pairs of pants, five shirts, 7 underwear, a sweater, and 4 bras. I washed a lot of shit in hotel sinks

Lightweight clothes that can breathe. The humidity down there can be a bitch, especially this time of year. This will make life difficult for your husband and his Pete Rose haircut, so he may want to bring some extra product.

synthetics that dry quickly

I would pack one or two dresses, a skirt, jeans, three tops, light sweater or jacket for evenings plus basics (underwear, bras) and lingerie. two pair or shoes, sandals for the day and a nice pair for evenings out. Choose from clothes you would wear in September or May, or in the same type of temps ]

I agree with Minka... cotton dresses can go from day to night or act as a bathing suit cover-up. Lightweight jeans or linen pants will be good should there be a chill in the air at night. Shoes always become my overpacking problem, so stick to a cute wedge or sandal that you can wear with most everything you pack. Of course, a pair of comfy flip flops and possibly sneakers if you think you may want to explore the island (hiking or 4-wheelers). Since the forecast says rain, I would bring a light rain jacket and/or compact umbrella. Also when packing, rolling your clothes will help fit more without too much wrinkling.Enjoy your honeymoon! The DR is amazing!

^I love rolling! I usually have my travel hair dryer and/or large curling iron in the center and roll around it to save space

Thanks everyone!!! I roll my clothes as well, definitely saves space and actually keeps things from wrinkling as much. Thankfully for any exploring we do I'll have my vibram five fingers which take up less space than tennis shoes. And they're easier to clean if they get muddy.

I was in the DR exactly one month ago. The forcast also called for rain each day we were there, but it ended up not raining at all except over one night. Most girls wore dresses at night to dinner and the entertainment (my wife wished she had packed more). Also I second the post above suggesting synthetics that dry quickly, thats mostly what I wore.
