For years I had an antenna to get over-the-air channels. Found out yesterday, if all you order is TWC internet then they send all the OTA channels over the cable for free. Now I don't need the antenna any more. However, I can't get ABC - is anyone else having this problem?[Edited on October 17, 2011 at 7:57 PM. Reason : ]

Yeah I'm doing the same thing. I think they black out ABC for some reason. I've been debating on whether I want to get an antenna for just ABC.
10/17/2011 9:25:13 PM
I didn't think they were allowed to.
10/17/2011 9:34:00 PM
Some sort of kerfuffle with Disney perhaps?
10/17/2011 9:35:04 PM
Do a rescan...I capped the GT game off TWC with the same level of service, so it worked as of at least 2 weeks ago.
10/18/2011 7:40:13 AM
Does anyone have a channel listing of all the 75.1, 75.2, etc. channels?^I will do a rescan. Are you still able to get ABC? Does it ever black out for you?[Edited on October 18, 2011 at 9:57 AM. Reason : ]

bttt.Anyone else?
10/19/2011 5:14:51 PM
I can't pick up OTA channels with the internal antenna of my 3 year old plasma tv. I have no idea why either.

They are better quality. However, there is a bit of noise with OTA channels. Also, I have yet to have the channels cut out.I can't find it on TWCs site as to why they give these channel to road runner subscribers. [Edited on October 19, 2011 at 7:55 PM. Reason : ]

Noise? With digital? Just get a decent antenna. No matter the house I'm at there's always times when channels will freeze or get all blocky with TWC. Experienced this both in Raleigh and Charlotte.^Maybe because they want you to hook up the cable to the TV and that's a step closer to you paying for full service. [Edited on October 19, 2011 at 7:56 PM. Reason : s]

Saying noise was a terrible choice of words.I have to turn the antenna around a lot, and if someone walks by the signal can go in and out. A lot more hassle than just a cable hook up.
10/19/2011 8:22:12 PM
Man you guys must live in the boonies.
10/19/2011 8:29:57 PM
Yes Six Forks is the boonies
10/19/2011 8:36:59 PM
Yeah I've had RoadRunner only since May and I've just grown to accept that I can't watch live ABC. Lemme know if you figure out why they're doing this.
10/19/2011 10:00:12 PM
Yeah, ABC-HD still works for me. Try physical channel 99.x...for some reason they change the location of WTVD pretty regularly, but thats where its showing up now.

I lose ABC usually twice a year and have to do a rescan to get it. Annoying but better than messing with an antenna.
10/20/2011 9:54:32 AM
Yeah, I'm doing the same thing -- also have a problem getting ABC. I'll do a rescan when I get home though.
10/20/2011 11:40:39 AM
^^what channel is ABC for you?
10/20/2011 10:20:39 PM
11-1
10/21/2011 9:01:27 AM
What part of wake county are you in
10/29/2011 10:16:23 PM
Brier Creek, Close to Durham
11/2/2011 9:35:59 PM
I wonder if they believe I can't ABC OTA so they don't supply me with it.
11/2/2011 10:37:56 PM
So are you guys just using a cable splitter to split the cable from the wall to your tv and modem?
11/3/2011 12:46:23 AM
thxs to this thread i get a few more channels and no antenna!
11/3/2011 2:48:00 AM
^^YesStill no ABC for me[Edited on November 3, 2011 at 12:04 PM. Reason : :-(]

I built one of those OTA coat hanger antennas and it works great. I'm in Cary, about 2 miles south of Crossroads, and get every channel in the area with nearly perfect reception. Just dropped it behind the TV and you don't even have to look at it. Occasionally if it's really bad weather WUNC will cut out for a second or two, but for what little I watch network TV it works brilliantly.
11/3/2011 12:09:11 PM
I moved to the free TWC to get away from the bad weather.Bought this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00122FCRG/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_detailsI now get ABC
12/12/2011 7:45:26 PM
And by bad weather you mean any time the wind blows more than 5mph I've got a powered antenna and the only channel that gives me any grief is channel 5 for some reason. Wind will make channel 5 cliff out. It seems to go through spells as well. Sometimes channel 5 is rock solid, other times it's a maddening scenario where it drops out enough to make the channel unwatchable. This has happened on perfect weather days. Don't know what's going on there.I always assumed that channel 5 had the closest broadcasting tower out of all of them. Maybe not.Oh, and helicopters will also screw with my signal.
12/13/2011 8:12:15 AM
^^How do signal boosters like this work? I don't know the tech behind it, but I would think that if I had a weak signal coming in to my house, that putting this one wouldn't do much? I pay for roadrunner and that is it. On one of my tvs I can hear about 100 stations, but the video comes in bad. If I were to say, buy this...would these channels then come in? Lol.
12/13/2011 12:38:44 PM
Isn't the point of a signal booster to boost a weak signal?
12/13/2011 1:08:13 PM
^i mean yes but I guess I don't understand how you can boost a weak signal on my end of things with a little device...wouldn't the boost need to be applied on the end that it originates from instead?side comment: it seems this is primarily for cable modem signals - would this improve tv reception at all as well?
12/14/2011 7:54:10 AM
Well - since the TV signal I get is digital (and it sounds like yours is too) - it does boost it.We've had one of these at my parents house for years and there TV goes out without it (they pay for TWC too). It's made a big difference here - not only do I get ABC, but it comes in perfectly. I can now watch Modern Family.[Edited on December 14, 2011 at 8:02 AM. Reason : They also have a good return policy - just buy and if it doesn't work send it back]
12/14/2011 8:00:51 AM
Might as well. I am a fan of amazon cust. support.
12/14/2011 9:13:26 AM
i also don't understand how adding a booster to the receiver can do anything about the sender's signal...maybe the booster does something to increase sensitivity?
12/14/2011 2:25:34 PM
Ok how does this work? I scanned the channels and nothing came up
12/14/2011 8:02:46 PM
- Plug antenna in- set TV to "Antenna" mode (opposed to "cable" mode etc)- scan for channelsMust have TV with digital tuner.
12/14/2011 8:33:28 PM
Ok I got it to work. I'm getting a few random non ota channels like bet and wgn. Was really hoping for espn some channels are just black though. And no abc
12/14/2011 10:16:02 PM
Don't see why you think you would get ESPN for free. Buy the amplifier - should help w/ ABC
12/15/2011 7:10:43 AM
Yea, it was wishful thinking, but I was hoping since I'm somehow getting wgn, bet, and the weather channel icould get espn as well
12/15/2011 9:35:57 AM
Okay so I got rid of my Vizio and got a Samsung. Now I don' get 11-1 anymore. However, I reconnected the Vizio and 11-1 comes in perfectly. Is the tuner in the Samsung that much worse?
1/15/2012 1:24:47 PM
We only pay for cable internet (through TWC) and we get nearly every channel in non hd free through the cable. I can access NBC, Fox and CBS HD channels fine, but ABC doesn't work in HD.
1/16/2012 10:29:20 AM
What's the non he channel number
1/16/2012 1:32:22 PM
?
1/24/2012 7:47:03 AM
if you're asking what channel abc is (non-HD) it's 13
1/24/2012 10:16:49 AM
any listing of all the OTA channels?
1/24/2012 11:24:00 AM
is anyone else having issues with 5-1/5-2 on TWC?
1/11/2014 2:43:24 PM
So can you run a coaxial striaght from the wall jack to the TV and this should work? I would love to get rid of my rabbit ears.
1/11/2014 3:22:34 PM
Yes
