My starter column now clicks whenever the key is turned to on (no noise on acc or when starting car) any thoughts on this? There also seems to be a whirring(like and electric motor moving).

Cars a 2001 hyundai if that matters

Nah. The cylindrical thing where you jam your key in. Thought i had heard it called a starter column

Pulled the panel below steering column but couldnt get a good look to try to find the clicking

ok figured out where the clicking is actually coming from. its the motor that switches between air conditioner settings (face, feet and face, feet, defrost, feet and defrost)

it only clicks when set to a face one. any ideas why this would just start all of a sudden?
