This will be our best effort of the season (yes i realize it's CMU, but we'll actually look like a decent team, even after accounting for the inferior opponent). Mark it.

^^ of course we willour shredded D held the #1 offense in the country scoreless for 30 straight minutes. CM has 0 offense.our offense found a running game. and mike glennon is due for a game where he doesn't make a completely retarded throw into coverage.

This will be one for the ages.NC State's defense won't show up for the first 3 quarters. After 45 minutes of play, the score is Central Michigan 42 - NCSU 7. Tom O'Brien has paced the sidelines like a worrying mother. Mike Archer has not paced, although he has walked quickly between the 30s, as is his trademark custom gameday manner.Daniel Imhoff takes the first snap of the fourth quarter. On the first play from scrimmage, he grips it and rips for an 85-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Graham. The score is now Central Michigan 42 - NCSU 14.On the ensuing kickoff, the Central Michigan punt returner muffs the punt, and after a scramble on the ground, the Wolfpack recovers the ball at the CMU 17. First and second downs go off in typical Tom "the bomb" O'Brien fashion. Both are rushes up the middle. Each rush loses 2 yards. On 3rd down, Imhoff receives the play from Offensive Coordinate Bible. The play is botched, and after scrambling east to west, west to east, and then back to the east, Imhoff hurls the ball into triple coverage. The ball is tipped, twice, and somehow finds its way into George Bryan's hands. Central Michigan 42 - NCSU 21.Central Michigan receives the kickoff. After shaking several tacklers, the Chippewas are finally stopped at their own 45. This is where the drive ends for them, as they go 3 and out, unable to gain any yardage due to a smothering Tenuta prevent defense. They punt and it is blocked. The Wolfpack starts out from the Chippewas 35. Imhoff marches the Wolfpack to the goal line with 12 screen passes before Mustafa Green hobbles the ball into the end zone. The Wolfpack is now within striking distance, down 14 points with 6:22 left in the game. The Chippewas start at their own 30 and subsequently convert 2 first downs. At the Wolfpack 36, Central Michigan faces 4th and 1. Coach Brian Kelly elects to go for it. While attempting to draw the Wolfpack defense offsides, the Chippewas false start. Central Michigan again lines up to go for it, and this time the Wolfpack bites, returning the Chippewas to 4th and 1. A botched hand-off results in a deep bomb from quarterback Dan LeFevour, which is broken up by defender DeAndre Morgan. The Wolfpack takes over on downs with 3:05 left to play.Coach Tom O'Brien returns to his playbook and, after consulting with Offensive Coordinator Bible, staunchly declares over his headset microphone those familiar words, "I'm gonna run my program." The first play from scrimmage is a hand-off to running back James Washington, which results in a loss of 2 yards. On 2nd and 12, Imhoff channels his inner Dennis Horner, pump-fakes 4 times, and finds an open Owen Spencer on the CMU 30. Gaining another 20 yards on the ground, it is now 1st and G for N. Carolina St.Imhoff signals for the no-huddle and the Wolfpack hurry to the line. His pass to the sideline is incomplete. On 2nd down, Imhoff looks to the corner of the end zone, but overthrows his receiver. Facing a 3rd and long, Imhoff stares down George Bryan before firing a bullet. Touchdown Wolfpack! The score is now Centy Michy 42 - NCST 35.The Wolfpack kickoff with 1:12 remaining in the game. Tom O'Brien, an efficient manager of the clock and notorious quick speaker, still retains possession of all 6 of his timeouts. However, he only chooses to use 3, as this has been his policy since his days in Charlotte, VA as an assistant. The fans are baffled why he did not use these to attempt a second score in the first half during a promising Wolfpack drive. The Wolfpack hold the Chippewas to a 3 and out, yet the lack of pressure from a young and semi-experienced offensive line allows the opposition to run the clock down to :32 seconds. T.J Graham fields the punt, runs the width of the field, turns north, and is leveled after crossing the State 41. There are :27 seconds placed on the clock after Tom O'Brien points to his watch and, in his best Lane Kiffin voice, retorts "it's time."Imhoff immediately fires to the sideline, advancing the Wolfpack to the CMU 45. The next play is a beauty, as Imhoff layers it over the corner and under the safety, putting the Wolfpack in field goal range. With :14 seconds left and 20 yards to go, Imhoff spikes the ball. The Wolfpack huddle and receive the signals from backup quarterback Mikey Glennon. They return to the line and Imhoff hits TE George Bryan for a complete pass but no gain, as he is out of bounds. A scuffle erupts in the middle of the field, and the Wolfpack draw a 15 yard penalty after Audie Cole takes off his helmet. The ball is placed on the CMU 35 with :05 seconds remaining on the clock. As Coach Tom O'Brien paces on the sideline, Imhoff takes the snap. As pressure penetrates the line, he scrambles to buy some time. Suddenly, he notices a wide open T.J. Graham on the 9 yard line. He fires a strike, and T.J. turns and heads for the end zone. Realizing that no defender will be able to catch him, he begins high-stepping his way into the end zone and motioning towards the defenders to come towards him with his free hand. He crosses the plane of the goal line and the stadium erupts in joy. A yellow flag is thrown. The Wolfpack players pile on top of each other, not realizing that the PAT must be converted to send the game into overtime. The Central Michigan players look rattled, but the teams are quickly gathered. The referee calls "Taunting, #6 on the offense. By rule the touchdown is negated. Time has expired. The ball game is over." Central Michigan begins to celebrate with a traditional indian dance on the block S at midfield. The final score is Central Michigan 42 - NC State 35.

i saw cmu play 2 weeks ago and goodness gracious. there's no way they put up more than 17 points on us.
10/5/2011 11:36:19 AM
They put up 40+ points in their last game, so they are capable of scoring. I looked over the stats for all their games and it looks like their QB might toss us a few interceptions.

as much as playing FCS teams doesn't matter (or lowly FBS schools), it sure as hell matters how bad you beat and dominate them. We've seen that the inability to totally destroy the FCS schools we've played was an actual indicator of success against better competition. (btw, i was lying to myself earlier in the year when i thought it didn't matter or was an aberration <-- mea culpa)
10/5/2011 2:42:54 PM
i am hoping game 5 will have nothing like any of this...1st game:we were lucky to have a lead at halftime against liberty an FCS school. it was 'a close game' until late 4th quarter2nd game:wake scored 21 points in 10 minutes. we had a field goal.3rd game:with 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, south alabama was only down a touchdown and a field goal4th game:georgia tech scored 21 points in 15 minutes, 5 seconds. and already had the game sealed up before the 2nd quarter.
