Ever had this happened to you? This article quoted my presentation quite a bit that I recently gave....but didn't mention me or my co-author once.....I guess this is normal...but for those out there that do articles and stuff similar...would you quote like that or give credit to the author?http://www.stripes.com/news/2-navy-ships-getting-new-lease-on-life-courtesy-of-budget-concerns-1.155948

I always give credit. Then again, I always cite my sources at work for every calculation I do as well which a lot of people don't do /shrugThe reason I bring up the calculations is that citing sources does two things:1) gives recognition to those who assisted you in your work2) provides a supporting backbone for the facts/arguments/results you are presenting[Edited on September 24, 2011 at 2:28 PM. ^^ Were you involved with "Taking a 40 Year Ship to 70 years: LCC 19 Class Extended Service Life"?

it's a news article not a research paper - i doubt they did it intentionally to deprive you of recognition. i wouldn't take it personallyi would add a link to the full paper in the comment section. not to pat yourself on the back though, to provide additional context for the reader should they be interested

^^ yeah this is my project. I led the team doing the assessment and wrote the paper.

It's listed as a "Navy assessment".That seems pretty standard for 'corporate' reports and documents.

A lab I worked at one summer put out a paper with an experiment I designed and no credit given. I don't think it was intentional, that paper happened months after I was gone and I was the only summer intern that left. But I should have been a listed co-author

Welcome to my world. My idea/work/project has gained national attention. There has been no less than 6 articles written on it in the last 2 weeks with more coming soon. My managers and the CIO are getting all the attention. I may end up doing a presentation at next years educause, but I would like some credit in the articles.
