900+ here. they use akamai for distributing this type of stuff so you;re probably getting it off a local server (edge caching for the win(8))[Edited on September 13, 2011 at 9:19 PM. Reason : a]

9/14/2011 12:07:44 AM
Anyone got it installed via VMWare player/worstation/etc...?
9/14/2011 1:46:51 AM
Guys, I would highly advise you to NOT install the Developer Preview on a VM.Especially if you are planning to use the developer tools (aka write an app with it), it's not going to work in a VM. It definitely doesn't work in VMWare, and it "works" in VirtualBox.Put it on a spare partition, get a 2nd hard drive, or put it on a 2nd computer.

downloaded this morning. running it on an old lappy i had lying around (Dell D410 2 GHz Pentium M & 1 GB RAM) just for S&G. Runs surprisingly well. I've got it connected to my Acer T230H 23" touchscreen monitor mounted to the wall when docked. [Edited on September 14, 2011 at 11:53 AM. Reason : ]

For anyone watching the keynote this morning, you saw the launch of Team Foundation Services While everyone at the conference got an invitation, I have it on good authority that a few more code may pop up at Brian Harry's blog in a few hours http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bharry/So if any of you guys are interested in trying out TFS (Source Code Control, Builds, Project Tracking) keep your eyes peeled

the developer preview is pretty awkward to use on a non-touch device
9/14/2011 5:16:06 PM
so im having this wierd thing where i can log into tdub from ie10 on win8. other sites seem ok
9/14/2011 11:35:43 PM
^^So glad I have a multi-touch laptop And I am almost shocked how much better the touch drivers are in Win8 than in Win7. It's like night and day how much more responsive the touchscreen is.

I'd say awkward is fair. It's still usable and runs well, but aspects of it (at least within Metro) are just sort of weird to use without being able to just touch things.Like, you could use your phone with a mouse and for probably 95% of the tasks, you'd be fine -- it just wouldn't be ideal.[Edited on September 15, 2011 at 9:45 AM. so maybe im a retard or something, but i cant get any network related thing to work in my c# metro app.I'm following this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/br211380(v=VS.85).aspx#creating_windows_metro_style_apps_in_visual_studioI dumbed it down to just creating the syndication client, pulling the feed, and then trying to put the title of the feed into a textbox on the ui. I wrap that in the exception and if an exception occurs print the messge to that same text box.everytime i run it i get "unspecified error" for the exception message. edit: COMException 0x80EB0110I have the internetclient capability enabled. wth am i missing?[Edited on September 15, 2011 at 2:42 PM.
