Since he posted these images after the fact, what is the security risk, other than having a moron work as an air traffic controller?

Quote :
"An air traffic controller at Tokyo's Haneda airport posted images on his blog showing the flight plan for Air Force One when U.S. President Barack Obama visited Japan last November, prompting the transport ministry to consider punishing him, ministry officials said Saturday.

The air traffic controller, who is in his 50s, posted 12 images, including a flight plan for Air Force One at the time of Obama's visit to Japan for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Yokohama.

The controller is also suspected of posting similar information about a Global Hawk unmanned reconnaissance aircraft deployed in March to collect data from the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant, government officials said."

You mean what's the risk with this guy who seemingly has posted classified info? Nah, there's absolutely no harm in that at all, he's trustworthy.

Well yeah, there's obviously that, hence the last part of my question I meant more is there a risk to having that information out in the public even after the fact?

The routes for the president are often preferred and reused.

Ianam/sf,

But that does divulge the details of 'a' flight plan, which could conceivably be the same as a future flight plan. I assume it gives a plane model, names of pilots or staff, or something that you wouldn't want to broadcast.

And he's also publicizing that he has access to flight plans, so someone mean could somehow entice him to obtain a future flight plan for some reason.

And they're supposed to be confidential.

its not just the information posted statically. it's that it may indicate any number of tendencies or proclivities to the nature of flight planning for AF1. maybe they switch up routes every mission. maybe they dont. if i care about where AF1 is going to be at any point in the future, I'd be looking at any info like this to extract any patterns i could that could help me predict its behavior and give me the best chance to do whatever i was planning to do involving the aircraft.

lol...I'm glad that "considered" punishing him. At least they thought about it.

Yea this is bad. Anyone with a time machine could go back in time and know the exact details of his flight.

We got the good ole "make your Facebook private" talk, but I've never heard of anyone being told to change their name, that's a first.

Military wives overreacting??? I'm shocked!

This is the media overreacting to the normal directives from Command "be careful what you share, try not wear your service on your sleeve, etc"

I think it's generally in good taste for everyone who's not a celebrity to make their Facebook page more private, secure and only accessible to friends and family.

I've noticed a bunch of military wives switching to Firstname Middlename. I'm not nearly that paranoid. So I'll clearly be the first one ISIS takes out.
