Got a package in the mail today, looks like they're making the conversion the weekend of Oct. 15th.Any prior/current Wells Fargo customers care to lend an opinion on them?

Wells Fargo is just as bad as Wachovia. Manager at Wachovia told me that Fargo is going to discontinue the Way2 Save program and start deducting auto drafts 3-5 days earlier than they transfer the money to the company you're paying. Don't know how many people that effects on here.
9/10/2011 9:51:52 PM
Um. They bought them a while ago. Theyre just changing the signs. I expect dick else to change.^I expected way2save to end a while ago... after they changed the terms of their interest and bonus[Edited on September 10, 2011 at 9:53 PM. Reason : .]

my bank information is under Wachovia.com and my credit card login is under wellsfargo.com so I'm excited for one login to rule them all

No shit... but when you go up the main drag here in the city all you see is wells fargo, wells fargo, wells fargo, wells fargo, wells fargo, wells fargo, BB & T, wells fargo, wells fargo.

Changing over in SC next weekend.
9/10/2011 10:53:17 PM
the recent banking reform pretty much made all the ways banks made money off idiots illegal, so now they have to make money off the financially responsible folks (goodbye, free checking, etc.).go with a credit union or expect to be shit upon even more in the future.
9/10/2011 10:53:57 PM
I had taken advantage of the purchase almost immediately after it happened. It was nice not getting raped by ATM fees when I went to Vegas.
9/10/2011 10:55:56 PM
well shit i wasn't worried about the switch over til I read this thread... Anyone have any proof of the changes or just all rumors at this point? If the rumors itt are true... looks like Charles Schwab might be my new checking account.
9/10/2011 11:29:47 PM
BB&T already got rid of free checking unless you have at least one direct deposit per month or $1500 minimum balance. to have "student" accounts, you have to go paperless or they'll charge you $3/month just for sending you a paper statement (not a big deal, but kinda lame). non-client check cashing fee went up from $6 to $8. when i switched to BB&T, they were running a deal where they told me i'd have their "Plus Package" for free for the life of my account (pretty much you get free checks and some other perks), but they cancelled the plus package for anyone who wasn't paying $4.95/month for it.none of it's a real big deal, but all of it adds up and it kinda pissed me off.the part of the plus package deal that pissed me off the most is they apparently included a notice that it would no longer be free and i would have to opt out of it in with my statement. i never open those damn statements b/c i check it almost daily online. i think a company should have to have my permission to charge me for something, not my permission to not charge me for something, but that's just me.[Edited on September 10, 2011 at 11:47 PM. ^^all Wachovia people got a letter in the mail saying it would be completed by the end of October or something like that. Just drive by a wachovia, most of their signage is vinyl banners over top wells fargo signs
9/11/2011 12:52:13 AM
You should all take your money out of Wachovia/Fargo and put it into a community bank or a credit union.Someone I know well works for Wells Fargo, and within months of getting hired there, they moved ALL of their money out of Wachovia and into a community bank instead. If you are with BoA or Wachovia/Wells, get your shit out. They will fuck you over with everything you do, and don't offer anywhere near the APR's that local banks and credit unions will.
9/11/2011 12:58:52 AM
it's not like wachovia had a reputation of treating clients fairly even before the wells fargo buyout
9/11/2011 1:45:16 AM
I told Wachovia to fuck themselves when I was 17 and they wouldn't give me a business account (when I had cash in hand to open the account, and a valid Tax ID and registered business). My parents left Wachovia a couple of years later after the bank tried to fuck them for hundreds of dollars of fees that ended up being the bank teller's error. We've both been with BB&T ever since. BB&T has gotten a little too large themselves, but they are still open and honest, and have helped me out so many times over the years when other banks basically told me to go fuck myself that I'll be a customer for life (or until they get bought).

I'm glad I live in PNC country.

i believe the correct name is wellschovia

They have been switching over since last year, I believe. The deep south has already gone through the change (I'm just waiting on my new card since my account is based in NC)... It's not any different IMO, except for the way 2 save program ending.

9/12/2011 10:21:47 AM
Yeah I had SECU pull that number on me the other day. It was a 2 day waiting period but you can't convince me they didn't know an hour after depositing the check it was valid
9/12/2011 10:24:22 AM
I think if the check is from a different bank it does take a couple of days to process and make sure the funds are valid. Especially at the credit union.
9/12/2011 11:05:37 AM
All US banks run through a router number system and are electronically updated through a database. To verify a balance takes no time at all. You can log onto your bank account and know the balance immediately. Why would SECU take 2 days to process, but Well's Fargo take 5 days to process the same check? Are they not as good at processing checks than SECU? It's a complete money making scheme. I had to deposit a check from Edward Jones into Wells Fargo and they tried to give me crap about it. I told them to forget the deposit and just cash it, and they refused. What's the point of a bank that won't give you your money?
9/12/2011 11:45:19 AM
^^ It was from another SECU account.
9/12/2011 11:46:59 AM
my account transferred to Wells Fargo months ago. The online system was easy peasy.

9/12/2011 12:03:31 PM
You say instantly, but I'd suspect there's a significant amount of mainframe systems out there that still do batching and shit like that
9/12/2011 12:42:24 PM
^^ Exactly why I put the in my post
9/12/2011 12:44:27 PM
i got a packet in the mail today. My accounts will transfer Oct 15way2save isnt going away immediately. However, it states that once my way2save account is converted over to a wellsfargo version, i will bear 3.0%APY on the first $500 for 13 months. not bad, but i've got like $4600 in that account. the remainder gets an apy of 0.05% which is pretty weak. it also says that the bonus earned on the wachovia version will be paid out and reflected on the last statement.come to think of it, i dont really know what my wachovia one bears. it might be the same rates. but as a whole i was always getting a little more than 1% so i never moved the majority over to a "high yield" savings, because the thought never occurred to me that it could be tiered. whatever, i'll live it with for the month thats left, then pull all my money out (well, all but 500 bucks).[Edited on September 12, 2011 at 2:14 PM. Fachovia
9/12/2011 4:31:23 PM
The Wachovia building downtown now has Wells Fargo signage.
9/30/2011 6:22:48 PM
it has to be temporary signagesuper small and unlit
9/30/2011 6:32:10 PM
I opened up a Wachovia account about a year ago just so I could have a place to stash some quick ATM cash on occasion, since I have Navy Federal and they have zero ATMs around here. I have like $6 in the checking and $20 in the savings...so I'm not really expecting this change to matter much to me.
9/30/2011 7:08:34 PM
^^ nope. It's the real deal shit.
9/30/2011 7:31:38 PM
anyone think this at first about "goes Fargo"?
9/30/2011 7:31:53 PM
^^^ It might. I went through this changeover last year when all the Wachovias in California converted, and a few months ago Wells Fargo announced they were changing terms so that my free checking account now has a minimum balance of $1500 to remain free, or else I get hit with a monthly fee. Expect something similar at some point down the road.
9/30/2011 8:01:11 PM
^Yup
9/30/2011 8:15:12 PM
I honestly expected business as usual. But they're looking to end any good programs or anything they would potentially lose money on. Like... I could see them charging for deposit slips.
10/3/2011 12:11:54 PM
i'm not looking forward to rebuilding all of my online billpay setup when I move over to SECU [/firstworldproblems]
10/3/2011 12:19:28 PM
That's why I've been slowly but surely adding my new Schwab account to things I pay online... I don't have a ton of bills, but its a pain to make sure you get them all
10/3/2011 12:25:52 PM
^^ Ugh yes that's my problem as well. Also I'm waiting on a transfer to go through but since I have zero timeline on when that should happen I can't make an effective exit strategy from Wells Fargo
10/3/2011 12:29:40 PM
so, they imported zero historical transaction data from wachovia to wells fargo... so on mint.com it looks like i made zero money and all my trends are fucked up.
10/16/2011 9:50:25 PM
I checked the terms in the packet for my account (Wachovia Wells Fargo Essentials) and it still lists it as being no minimum balance and zero fees, in addition to being a type of account that is no longer available. So, I'll hold onto it for now.
