Don't feel like lugging all my crap down three flights of stairs when I move later this month lol. Who in the area is reasonably priced and won't break all my crap.

I've used http://www.movinghelp.com through U-Haul four times now. Each time I've rented and driven the truck myself, but hired people to load and unload the truck. I've been exceptionally pleased with the crews each time EXCEPT for my lone experience with a Raleigh crew."1Hrfree Travel Core Transportation" was the group I used here, and they did an alright job, but didn't seem very professional. I will be using the same service to pick a different moving crew when we purchase our home.

TROSA!I cannot recommend them highly enough. Very likely the cheapest place you will find due to the nature of their business. However, when they moved us from our apartment (2nd story) to our new house, the move was flawless. It was ridiculously fast, everything was handled properly (fragile boxes were actually treated as fragile). We packed everything ourselves, but you can also pay them to pack items as well. They wrap all of your furniture, tvs, etc to keep them from getting damaged. When its delivered, they unwrap, unpack (if requested), clean up, and leave. As much as I know this is going to make me sound like a tool, this is an email I wrote to their supervisor/manager after the move (in response to a follow up questionnaire they sent). I am in no way affiliated with them -- just wanted to make sure I got my point across about how impressed I was with the move. Yes, I am a tool.

Did that rate (118/hr) include them bringing their own truck and packing materials?

It included the price of the truck -- I believe packing materials were extra, although not expensive. Things like wardrobe boxes were definitely an added charge. I think we only spent $30-$50 extra for the packing materials (again, we had most of our stuff packed) and the wardrobe boxes. This move was 2 years ago, so I'd imagine pricing has changed somewhat, definitely would call and ask them about pricing now.The way they did it when we rented:You told them the # of rooms, # and type of "large" items, and an approximation of how much stuff you were moving. Depending on your needs, they had different size trucks. You then have the option to have 2 men and a truck, 3 men and a truck, etc -- each with different rates. We were recommended to use 3 movers, however we chose to go with 2 instead since almost everything was packed. They also had different rates for Sundays (not sure if this is still the same). If we were getting everything packed we would have done 3 guys for sure (2 to move large items while 1 packs). With that being said, 2 worked out great. It's worth mentioning, TROSA is "Triangle Residents Overcoming Substance Abuse" -- these are recovering addicts for the most part who are trying to turn their lives around and make an honest living. From what I was told, they go through random drug tests with no forewarning. Also, a supervisor is present with each team. We were really skeptical and put off by the fact they were ex-addicts, but we had enough word of mouth from friends and coworkers to give us the confidence to go with them (and as you can tell, we were very glad we did). By all means though, give them a call to get specifics.http://trosamoving.com/estimate.html

They can't be any worse than the last guys we used when we moved. Pretty sure they were using addicts How many sqft of stuff was it approximately?

I can't remember off the top of my head but it was basically:46" TV, large couch, love seat, 2x recliners, 2 beds (a queen and king), dining room table and chairs, all of our small kitchen appliances (the dishwasher/stove was the apartments), our washer and dryer, and all of our clothes and miscellaneous items (vacuums, towels, bathroom stuff, random paintings/pictures, etc). Our apartment at the time was 900sqft and overloaded with stuff.Doesn't sound like all that much when I type it out, but it definitely was a ton of crap. I remember moving myself into the apartment (just my stuff, before my fiancee moved in), and it took forever. Moving her into the apartment was also a nightmare. The two of us trying to carry a couch up the steps had to have been comical to our neighbors.

I used All My Sons moving last time. They were pretty quick and decent guys. I had all the little stuff packed up in boxes already. Just got free boxes off people on Craigslist. So they moved the big stuff from the bedrooms, office, living room, and dining room. Also the washer and dryer. All and all the move from Cary to Apex was right around ~$275. Completely worth it in my opinion since I didn't have to do anything but show them where to put the stuff in the new house.

Called a couple of places. I can't believe the range in prices.I was quoted $128/hour by TROSA and $210/hour by another company I can't remember the name of since I automatically threw them out

I used All my Sons moving to where I am now and they were fucking terrible. Two young guys that didn't know wtf they were doing, rude as hell, and didn't give a shit about my stuff. I bought them some lunch, tea, and water the guy looked at me and said "I don't like cheese on my sandwich" and threw it on the ground.I nearly sliced him open
