I don't think ours has ever been over $30 Sounds like you have a leak somewhere. Or a water loving roommate.

My wife and I and our three kids live in Apex and last month our Water portion of the bill (elec, water, sewer, garbage & recycling in one bill) was $34.88 and Sewer was $49.34 for a total of $84.22.

It also says that we used 7300 gallons though I discovered that all of our toilets were running (albeit very slowly) so got that fixed and expect the amount to go down some

Edit to add that my wife doesn't know how to take less than a 30 minute shower. And when she shaves her legs it's more like 40-45min

Jesus christ. I understand taking a 10 minute shower but that is just fucking excessively wasteful.

Yeah, this. Our Cary water bill started in the $30/month range. Over the course of a few years this inflated to the $60 range - same usage.

i find it really fucking irritating that the city i live in enforces a "minimum charge" for 3000 gallons water / 3000 gallons sewer, which equates to a $53/month minimum bill.

last month, we've been on hardcore drought restrictions. misdemeanor for washing a car, no watering of the lawn, etc... and yet, the minimum still holds.

no chance we used 3k gallons.

[Edited on September 1, 2011 at 9:20 AM. Reason : also, i water my foundation when allowed. that uses a lot of water. super dry with a slab... sooo]

I'm a heavy water user between June and September.

I think my water bill for July and august was $225 or so.

2 Adults, 3 dogs, 1 cat... About 3-5 CCF/month. I like extra long showers and wash the cars every other month or so.

Ok, just got the water bill and can give you some real numbers.

We used 7200 gallons over the last two months -- that averages to about 5 CCFs a month. That's for a family of four who cloth diapers, hand washes dishes, and had a 30 year old washing machine. We just installed new appliances this week. I'm interested in seeing how the new front load washing machine and having a working dishwasher impacts our water use.

^ It's gonna be huge! I was surprised at how much we saved after getting a front loading washer. Before we were using this crappy washer from the early 90s.

so let me get this straight

they charge you for the water and then charge you again to let it go down the drain, but then put laws in place so that you can't use gray water to water your lawn?

LOL

i don't pay for water other than the electricity it takes to run the well pump

^^^ Oh and they ALSO charge you for the run off water whenever it rains too. Water from rain is part of your "waste water" contribution. Go figure. The more it rains, the higher your waste will be. Talk about BS.

Excluding irrigation, we used 297 gallons per day.

Including irrigation, over 800 gallons a day.

My water bill is ~40$ a month for 1 guy. Thank you harnett county for mandatory sewage fee of 20$ and mandatory billing of 1k gallons for 20$. Whether I don't use the water or wash and do laundry every day!!!!, its the same price.

At my wife's house they get billed for over 200/day. It's just not possible without a leak.
