What are your recommendations? Probably going to check out Sam's Club in the next day or two to buy in bulk. Need a quick healthy snack for those work hours between breakfast/lunch and lunch/dinner [Edited on August 25, 2011 at 5:11 PM. I eat Chobani.
8/25/2011 5:27:12 PM
I usually go with Chobani Vanilla with honey and almond butter ~ 22g protein per servingJust tried Trader Joe's full fat Greek Yogurt and it was pretty good for non-flavored. I can't find full fat anywhere else. It only has 9g protein per serving though.
8/25/2011 5:27:50 PM
^this.
8/25/2011 5:28:47 PM
Save some money. Buy a big ass container of regular plain yogurt and strain it.
8/25/2011 5:33:17 PM
i like all the chobani flavors just remember to shake the fruit ones. they taste better if shaken not stirred.
8/25/2011 6:00:00 PM
i love taking the zero fat ones and adding sugar free jello to them
8/25/2011 6:02:08 PM
I looked at the Greek yogurts in the grocery store a while back. All of them had way too much sugar in my opinion. But it's supposed to be good for you.[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 6:02 PM. Reason : It would be nice if they'd sell it sour and we could add splenda.]
8/25/2011 6:02:16 PM
They do sell the plain unsugared yogurt; that's what I buy. Chobani plain, and I add splenda and pineapple.
8/25/2011 6:04:06 PM
truvia is the only fake sugar i can use that doesn't give me migraines
8/25/2011 6:05:55 PM
^^ thats what i buy too.that or fage^ i like truviayou should try stevia bill! [Edited on August 25, 2011 at 6:06 PM. Reason : sdfsdf]
8/25/2011 6:06:05 PM
same plant isn't it ?
8/25/2011 6:07:06 PM
probably i havent bothered to look
8/25/2011 6:07:34 PM
chobani tastes like ass to me. i really really love oikos though. the stoneyfield version, NOT dannon. the strawberry one doesn't taste very sweet imo. chris, who doesn't like yogurt but loves sour things, said it's pretty sour. after oikos i like fage. i've tried chobani 3 times now & i would not buy it again.
8/25/2011 6:08:18 PM
yeah i think truvia is a name brand stevia sweetener
8/25/2011 6:08:41 PM
chobani is definitely my fav, with fage a close second (it's a little more tart, but I like tarty)I tried the store brand knockoff and it was
8/25/2011 6:08:50 PM
oikios is good!!
8/25/2011 6:09:52 PM
Well, snaps, problem solved. Now I need to find out where to get it in the big containers instead of the individual sizes.
8/25/2011 6:11:31 PM
i bet splenda and pineapple is AWESOME
8/25/2011 6:12:22 PM
you can also use crystal light packets to flavor plain yogurt
8/25/2011 6:13:41 PM
I found one here called Krema that has 9% MF. Good grief, they should call it sour cream!
8/25/2011 6:14:35 PM
^^or any other artificial sweetener most likely...
8/25/2011 6:16:22 PM
monounsaturated fat?I don't know what MF means.
8/25/2011 6:16:47 PM
milkfat?
8/25/2011 6:17:09 PM
It is indeed milk fat
8/25/2011 6:23:13 PM
I started Googling. Apparently, ice cream has to be at least 10 percent milk fat to be called ice cream in the United States.Krema was 1% away. I wanna buy it and freeze it now to see what it tastes like.
8/25/2011 6:28:43 PM
Greek yogurt is gross.Especially the stuff they try to pass off as chocolate.
8/25/2011 6:45:14 PM
Fage FTW!! It's available in whole, 2%, and skim. No added sugar. Great with some berries and honey. It's also a healthy way to thicken a creamy soup ]
8/25/2011 6:46:11 PM
^yes!!!! I <3 fage! I add in a little honey.Or: 1 pint plain greek yogurt ( i go with low fat)1 hothouse cucumber, peeled 1 tablespoon plus 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (1 lemon)1 tablespoon good olive oil1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic1 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh dillPinch freshly ground black pepperGrate the cucumber, mix it all, enjoy some quick tzatziki with pita]

kroger greek is sweetened w stevia already. its cheaper and not bad...
8/25/2011 8:17:37 PM
Dang, Kroger has the yogurt market on lockdown. They've got that carb control stuff, too, that is basically unmatched in the diabetes scene. (Smath74 brought this info. to TWW originally.)[Edited on August 25, 2011 at 8:24 PM. Reason : ]

Note that Fage Total isn't whole milk, its more like half-and-half or light cream. Dat 13% milkfat. Crazy delicious, but something like 250 calories per container.I prefer the 2% ones to the 0% ones, but grocery stores like to carry almost all fat free stuff - Chobani 2% Pineapple, Fage 2% Stawberry and Blueberry are great. If you want to find the Total Full Fat, try Whole Foods.

8/25/2011 10:00:27 PM
8/25/2011 10:09:30 PM
I buy any plain Greek yogurt with at least 23g of protein per serving and less carbs. Whatever is cheapest but store brands tend to not taste very good except TJ's.
8/25/2011 10:29:29 PM
mmmmm Fage
8/25/2011 10:29:47 PM
^^^fat is not equal to sugar...
8/25/2011 10:35:37 PM
stop buying yogurt with fruit in it and you won't have sugar problems. What do you expect, a cup of yogurt with a dozen blueberries in it isn't going to have a dozen blueberries worth of sugar?
8/25/2011 10:42:44 PM
LOVE IT![Edited on August 25, 2011 at 10:45 PM. Reason : That is the Honey kind.]
8/25/2011 10:44:28 PM
I just told my wife about this thread and she got super excited. Costco is apparently the place to be for bulk Chobani, but she said Fage is on sale at Target this week and that's pretty great.
8/25/2011 10:45:59 PM
just ate oikos for the first time taste wise it was really good, but the texture was too creamy for me (one of the reasons I like greek yogurt is because it's thicker)
8/25/2011 10:49:11 PM
I buy one quart containers of Chobani from BJ's; it's like $5 a container there.
8/25/2011 10:49:17 PM
I use Gatorade mix to flavor my plain yogurt
8/25/2011 10:51:05 PM
I am a fat free plain chobani or fat free plain voskos girl. I love greek yogurt. I used to sweeten it with splenda, cocoa powder and raspberries, but now I just eat it plain. Yum! It is my mid-afternoon snack at work almost every day.
