Feel free to move this to entertainment.

Anyone play? I'm going to finally take the plunge just to see how it is. If you want me to use you as a referral, shoot me a PM. I think you may get in game cash?

won in the mx5 at bathurst this morning. not a great split because of guys overshooting corners and not holding the brakes (all surprisingly NOT in the downhill section). I gotta say the Kia can be fun to fling around for a few laps, and the lotus 49 will either drive you crazy or get you addicted.

I've been playing off and on for a couple years. the new tire model v5 has greatly improved things. Its no longer like you're skating on ice and you'll fly off the track at 20mph.

Bathurst is such a fun track.

I drive the SRF and Skippy the most.

Add me on there, fools, Dan Durusky

Nice, i have the same G27. I got a stiffer spring for the brake pedal and it made a huge difference. Def look into that. Make sure you read this thread on how to really dial the settings in:

I also have triple monitors which makes dealing with traffic way easier.

thinking about getting this after Christmas. I will have a Driving Force GT wheel. My only wonder is if my video card is good enough to run this. Its a Geforce GTX 550ti. Do you guys think that would be good enough to run this?

According to the site, you need a GeForce 7800 or Radeon X1800, and those are cards well below yours.

Quote :
"The Nvidia GTX 460 would be a budget minded video card for users not looking to break the bank ... ... If you’re an ATI fan or feel that a three screen setup could be in the future, then the ATI 5770 may be a budget minded option for upgrade."

Videocard Name Passmark G3D Mark
GTX 460 2665
GTX 550 Ti 1927
Radeon HD 5770 1680

Your Geforce GTX 550ti should be fine.

The gtx 460 pulls more than enough fps at 1920x1080 with maxed out settings except for as which is set at 4/8 in the drivers. This is with an i5 2500k at stock speeds. I'm usually over 100fps but at the start of a few races I may get down to the 50s with a large grid at spa or suzuka.

just started playing this last night (went ahead and got the year subscription for $50). 5 races, been wrecked 5 times. I can't wait to get out of rookie class. People race like they have no sense. It IS amazingly fun though.

^are you racing road, oval or both? In rookie races it may be wise to not qualify so you start in the rear. You can get top 10s by just avoiding the wrecks

just oval at the moment. I had my first clean race in my 6th and last race this morning. Started 4th, fell back to 6th on the restart avoiding two cars that wanted to race into turn 1 and then passed them as one of them spun out on lap 4 and one got taken out by a lap car on lap 15. Then it was a mad dash to the finish for the top 4 cars as I came from 1.5 seconds back to finish halfway up the door on the 3rd place car and .499 seconds behind the leader. No incidents. My SR is 3.43 now. Hopefully i'll keep building it up and get to 4.0 quickly

best thing you can do is turn laps on the ovals. The rookie divisions are brutal. I'm not great, but got up to Class A and usually have fun and clean races. I am awful on the road though

I haven't even tried the road courses yet and probably never will. That just isn't my type of racing. PLUS...it'll save me some money. I plan on sticking to strictly ovals. That will be expensive enough.

My SR is up to 3.61 at the moment. I can't seem to get away from the idiots. I had a dude try and go 3-wide into turn one at Charlotte yesterday. No, he didn't go low...no, he didn't go high...he dive bombed THE MIDDLE LANE! You see some seriously retarded stuff in these rookie races.

I tried the Legend cars at USA Speedway. I'm absolutely horrible. My fastest laps are 1 second slower than the rest of the cars. I can't seem to get that car to turn to save my life.

had my SR at 3.91. Now the street stocks are at USA Speedway and it has dropped to 3.84 in two races. It was bad enough when all you had to do was hold the pedal down for 20 laps. Now guys are having to use the break and finesse for 40 laps. Its quite ugly. I finished 3rd in my 2nd race. Can finally get around that track with some smoothness. Still dropped .01 SR pt because some douchebag spun out in front of me and nicked me as he was hitting the wall.

I won my first race at Charlotte this morning. I have already bought the Late Model car and all the tracks it uses for when I make it to D class. Will probably buy the National series car next. I also bought the two gen-6 cars, Daytona and Talladega so I can race in the Carb Cup.

^^ if you want to get above 4.0 for instant license upgrade, just do a 30 minute time trial. You'll get pushed over easily.

^ undertired street tires will get you. With the limited setup changes on the rwd the best I can do is to play with the throttle mid-corner to keep it sliding a bit. the c-spec is fun and not as edgy as the track, less hp + more weight. I'm hoping they get the series set up right for next season.

^thinking that's what I'm gonna do. It is just damn near impossible to get around USA Speedway in the rookie class without atleast getting a few incidents. The track is too small and half the field doesn't understand when to brake or how to keep their car straight. Even the winners end up with 4x and 6x in most of the races I have been in because they catch lap cars that want to race them within 10 laps. Infuriating. SR is sitting at 3.68 right now. Had two incident free races last night followed by a 6x race where a car drove up my ass after I slowed down to avoid a spinning car.

Made it to D license. My last 4 street stock races at USA I finished 3rd, 4th, 5th and 4th with a combined 2 incidences. Went from a 3.68 SR to a 4. Bought late model series car/tracks. I've only practiced with it, but damn it is fun to drive. I ghost raced and out of a 12 car field, I was prolly as fast or faster than 7 or 8 of them. Gotta hone in the setup and work on consistency. I've got a sweet looking NC State car. I'll post a screenshot if I can figure out how

Just promoted to class C. Had a string of 4 top 4 finishes in a row at Thompson Speedway in the Late Model series. I'd love to buy the trucks and their tracks...but I can't drop that kinda coin after dropping $125 on the late model and carb cup series stuff. Guess ill be doing late model and c class street stocks for a while.

^nice,

the late model at thompson is tough. took me a shit ton of laps to be able to run a 19.9 and i saw a couple guys run 19.3

iRacing is kinda expensive at first but once you buy the tracks its only $4/month or so. try to buy 6 items at once to get the 20% off

^Yeah. When I bought the Late model car/tracks I went ahead and bought Daytona/Talladega and the two gen-6 cars as well so that I could fool around with the carb cup. Everything ended up being like 4-5 bucks cheaper than it normally would have been. I told my wife then though that would be all the money I would spend on it for the time being. Switch to Concord raceway in the Late Models tomorrow night. It looks like a mini-Pocono. Gonna take me a while to get used to that.

My fastest lap at Thompson is a 19.7, but that's in qualifying trim. The A-Class guys in Division one can run race trim fast laps at 19.6 and their avg lap over a 70 lap race is like 20.1 or 20.2. Hell, my fastest lap in race trim might be a 19.9 and my avg. lap is around 20.7. Those guys are hella good.

GTEYE g25/g27 brake spring review: buy one! it's so much more intuitive when your brain is trying to measure brake pedal force and not distance traveled.

today is first day of the new season. going to try to run class D national car and late model.

the super late model just came out, will be interested once i get to class C

The damn service has been down just about every time I've tried to get on the last two days. I did buy the SLM and its a beast. They put the NTMv5 on the late model cars and man does it make them hard to handle the first few laps until the pressures come up. Has all those guys in a tizzy! I got to run two races (on in LM one in SLM) and finished 4th in both. The SLM is cool because the races are longer (80 laps compared to 60), they have cautions and they have the Lucky Dog wave around. I got into an early wreck in my SLM race...was back in 12th with a damaged car. I ended up pitting about 5 times throughout the race during cautions, made up my lap, fixed most of the damage on my car and came back to finish 4th.

somewhere along the way I lost the feeling in all of the oval cars. Don't know if it's something with the tire updates, ffb updates, logitech drivers or what, but I just can't feel the tires like I used to.
