Not a Garage regular, so my apologies ahead of time. Just looking for some advice.I've got a 07 Accord EX-L that I've had a for a little over a year. In that time, the front right tire has worn itself bald, while the other three look as good as the day I bought the car (they were new). The wear is even across the tire, it's not concentrated on the inside or outside. I've checked the pressure every month, and it's always been where it's supposed to be. WTF? Any ideas on what's causing this and how do I fix it?

alignment or worn/bent suspension parts

I'd be interested in knowing your driving habits. The right front tire is the one that wears the fastest...and under heavy application of power and excessive wheelspin (likely in rainy weather especially), it'll wear much faster than the other three. You obviously don't rotate your tires on a regular basis, so even slightly faster wear on this one becomes bluntly obvious over time.

I feel like I drive pretty normally. I don't run around like it's an F1 car or anything. I barely drive it at all. Since I got it last May I've only put 10000 miles on it. Is a tire going from new to bald in 10000 miles really considered normal wear? If so why are the other 3 still perfectly fine?[Edited on August 18, 2011 at 9:28 AM. Reason : bad choice of words]

Hell no, I don't consider it normal. But there are a lot of things to consider. Is it the same brand as all the others? If the wear is uniform, that throws me for a loop. Usually if you have a really bad problem like that, the tire wear is very uneven...there's a LOT of load on only parts of the tire, which leads to the greatly accelerated wear.

So the EX-l is a v6... is it a manual or an auto? Seriously its probably quietly spinning the inside tire every time you make a right hand turn in the rain. And i'm not saying you drive like an idiot or anything I mean i spin my inside front occasionally in an awd car with traction control (no front limited slip tho) [Edited on August 18, 2011 at 9:43 AM. Reason : .]

AutomaticThe tires are Michelin HX MXM4's, all of them. Front Left:Front Right:Sorry for the shitty photos. The wear on each tire is even. Both look like the photos all the way across.

Rotate your tires and then check wear pattern again. This will point to a bad tire, or a bad suspension or alignment. An alignment is only 50 bucks, cheaper than having to keep replacing tires. Go to gowlers, last time i went they visually checked my suspension parts for free, told me what i needed to change, i went and did the work myself and came back and got an alignment for 50 bucks. Nice honest people.

Honda dealerships will also check your alignment for free (though naturally will charge you to fix it).If you've driven 10,000 miles than you should have rotated your tires twice by now (every 5,000). The wear is odd and I'm not sure of the cause but rotating the tires would have spread the wear out more evenly across more than one tire.sumfoo1 might be right WRT spinning it on sharp right turns.

i can't take cred its zx's idea but i agree... especially now that you posted a picture i'm pretty sure you're doing burnouts on your right hand turns from a stop.
8/18/2011 10:59:32 AM
hahaha I can promise you I'm not doing burnouts , but thanks for all the adviceI'm gonna go get the alignment looked at, and start looking at tires

^You're an abnormality Duke . I'm betting I'll get 20k miles out of my Direzzas including 3 track events. And since I was faster than 85% of the cars in my run group at the track this past weekend I can assure you I was not going easy on the tires.

Man, if I had been tracking my S2000 with the Star Specs, I bet they would have had cord showing by 5k. I'm about to put some comparatively weak BFG KDWs on my Z06, and then put some r-comps on my other set of wheels.

It's just EX-L, and it's a V6. The tires were all brand new with the car.

yeah my bad. I see they changed it a few years ago and dropped the VL designation.
