I has it. In my right leg. Anybody else able to shed some light on what I can and can't do?I'm doing 120cc shots of enoxaparin twice a day and 5 mg warfarin daily. I just found out Tuesday, and I go back tomorrow for followup bloodwork.Several people seemed surprised that they didn't put me in the hospital, but I guess it isn't that serious.

No flying. Airplanes can not only cause DVT, but exacerbate DVT.

Uhhhh shouldn't your doctor be telling you what you can and can't do?

uhhh yeah, but of course they err on the side of caution. This guy is pretty cool (better than my usual doctor; he's the new guy at the practice I go to), but he hasn't been too clear on the limits. Granted, I was just diagnosed Tuesday, and there's followup work to be done.Big deal is, not everything that I should expect was spelled out in huge detail, and I'm wondering who here has had a similar experience.

I like this website for medical reference: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000156.htm

How's the breathing at least? Is it better?

Marginally. I got ventolin and that helps some. But I can't do anything strenuous, so I don't know how it'll be under load.

You are blood thinners. You need to be very careful not to hit your head or injure yourself at all during this work. Apparently the new theory is that DVT is better treated with the patient NOT being in the hospital.

Oh yeah, legal disclaimer for the above:I'm not a doctor, and this is not medical advice. Only your doctor can give you that.

stay very well hydratedstay away from spinach -- has too much vitamin K and will interfere with the warfarin.yes, avoid falling down and avoid injuryfamiliarize yourself with the signs and symptoms of a stroke incase you whack your head on something.also clots in your leg could mean clots elsewhere so thats another reason to learn about strokes

I had a DVT in my right leg too and was also on blood thinners for about 6 months. I had to wear a medical bracelet (that you can find at local pharmacies like CVS) in case of a car accident, major bleed, head trauma or if the clot traveled. I stayed off my leg a lot in the beginning and always elevated it. If I didn't it would be super swollen with pooled blood very uncomfortable. When I was able to get up and move around more I had to wear the tight hose (I forget what they are called) My clot was up in my thigh so I had to wear the knee high tights...again probably not so comfortable in this heat but it definitely helped a lot.(This is AlliePaige btw, didn't realize I was signed into my husbands account )[Edited on July 31, 2011 at 8:27 AM. What caused your clot?

Long story short - I was on life support after struggling with bi-lateral pneumonia. I was bed ridden for 1 week before the machine was hooked up and then another whole week on the machine. They had a line in my leg and even though they took precautions like taking the line out and putting it in my arm as soon as they could, the tights and a special bed I still got the clot.. The first time I was able to get up and walk down the hall I had to just sit down in the hallway and wait for them to come get me because the pain was unbearable. It was obvious it was a clot because of how swollen my leg was but we got an ultrasound to be sure.
