Found one of these spiders last night when I woke up to piss. It was chillin on the wall in the corner so i trapped it with a CD container lid and a greeting card. Took some pics then stuck him in the toaster oven on 250 to die quickly. Then took the last two pics. Asked a guy I know who is an exterminator if he thought it was a brown recluse and he said probably not since it doesnt have the very distinct violin shape on its back, but he didnt know exactly what it was. But he also isnt that good with identifying spiders, he just knows to sprays some dust when a customer complains of spiders.

good god, probably looks a lot worse than it actually is but i think i'd probably crap my pants if i saw that thing. how big was it?

Thanks, glad to know now what they are. And yes they are pretty big to me too. Online said they are supposed to only be ~2" all the way across but I must have some giants over here because the past couple ones I have seen have been 2.5-3.5" [Edited on July 28, 2011 at 1:11 AM. Reason : ]

cameltoe spider

I never noticed it before, but that sort of mimics the violin pattern on the back of a Brown Recluse.

^ yup... Now I think what I saw in my bedroom a few weeks ago was actually a southern house spider... It looked like a violin but I killed it first then tried to look

Spiders are our friends. They eat the shitty and annoying insects.

hell nawFuck having a vampiric creature with 8 legs and far too many eyes hunting living things in my house. if that becomes necessary, I'll be introducing a Frog into my home.

^2 hahahaI spray them with Comet or Glade air freshener... Always does the trickPs:

Lol, I don't have spiderwebs in every corner of my house, and I wasn't suggesting that you keep a colony of spiders in your house. Only that spiders get a bad rap. If they're outside I leave em alone. If they're inside and clearly aren't black widows, I'll move em outside.

I'm set to auto-kill if it even resembles a black widow or a brown recluse. Shoot first, ask questions later.
