^Yes, because only criminals are interested in remaining anonymous while online . You don't give anyone access to your connection by installing the browser, joining the packet relay network is an entirely separate operation.

I was talking about this in a lesson I'm writing. I think it's main intent is to allow freedom of internet access within heavily regulated networks, i.e. places like North Korea.

So whats the deal with Tor? I thought at one time it cost money to use the service. Any reason to not connect through Tor for certain activities?

I don't recall Tor ever costing money; anyway, if you want a fast connection or use of anything plugin-based (like YouTube), don't use Tor.This is probably why the Tor Project is promoting use of the Browser Bundle over a system-wide installation of Tor: Some shit just needs to get done without all that overhead.
