If you are a fan of the classics, which cars do you think manufacturers should bring back?I will start of with the BMW 2002And my very own (not in the photo) 5 cylinder Audi GT Coupe What is on your wish list of cars that you would like to see again?[Edited on July 16, 2011 at 4:02 PM. Reason : dc]

^borrows a lot of styling cues from the gtr
7/16/2011 5:39:04 PM
Yeah, from the back it kind of looks like the Quatro/GT coupe but everything else seems foreign. The GT has a DeLorean look to it.
7/16/2011 6:24:12 PM
"Borrows" would only be true if the designers intentionally borrowed some styling from the GT-R, something we will never know.Cars that should be remade:Porsche 928... lot of talk going on about it, speculation is that it will be made in a couple of years, based on the Panamera chassis.Lambo LM002 (4x4 offroader).Corolla AE86.BMW 8-Series.Toyota Supra.Mazda RX-7.Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4.Acura NSX.BMW Z8.BMW M1.Mazda 929.Infiniti Q45.Ferrari Enzo.Lambo Espada/Jarama (front-engined Lambo).

Of all the BWMs that you suggest, and including the 2002, if you had to pick one of them then which one would it be?[Edited on July 16, 2011 at 6:47 PM. Reason : df]

fd3s rx7323gtx1st/2nd gen DSM, basically a 2 door smaller evodelorean

Isn't the 1-series coupe basically a reincarnation of the 2002?If yes, then: Z8If no, then: Z8 or 2002, can't decide. And I have a hard time trying to figure out what the revival of the 2002 look like if not like the 1-series coupe.

^^^Regarding the Karmann Ghia, I thought about the Thing...but I don't think air-cooled VWs would be on the table. I doubt an air-cooled engine could meet emission standards these days, and it certainly wouldn't meet the NVH levels that the average consumer would tolerate.I mean, they could pull a New Beetle and build the Ghia or Thing on a Golf chassis, but do we really even want that? I think not.
7/17/2011 12:01:38 PM
no love for the scrambler ITT?
7/17/2011 12:02:41 PM
that's one that could legitimately be made pretty well and pretty easily. there are aftermarket conversions for TJ Wranglers, but Jeep could do it if they wanted to (although the JK Wrangler is kinda lame, I think.)
7/17/2011 12:46:34 PM
Celica All-Trac would be cool
7/17/2011 1:58:33 PM
Yep, if Subaru made a 2-door STi and called it the SVX, and Mitsubishi made a 2-door Evo and called it the Eclipse GSX, then Toyota could build a new Celica All-Trac and have it compete with them.I'd still probably prefer the sedans or 5-doors unless the coupes were significantly lighter/faster/cheaper/better looking/some combination of the above.

7/18/2011 12:38:19 AM
The scrambler is essentially being re-made as a 4 door wrangler, and they're selling a factory kit to make them into a truck. The 240 wasn't a great "new car" where it hit it's stride was being a cheap ass used RWD car with a good balance and no HP but plenty of possibilities. the duke, i was actually looking for a flat 6 turbo... subie needs to make a 6 pot turbo so i can engine swap the bitch (all subie wireing harnesses are damned near the same) and then next WRX/STI will be a lot smaller, shooting for the the size of the other WRC cars (fiesta MINI etc.)

$5,000+ so that you can chop up your new wrangler for a 4 foot bed kinda seems not worth it, what a let down.wrx seems cool though

THere's no need to remake the BMW Z8. Why remake a crappy car? Not like it has any historical significance so if BMW wants to come out with another 2 door sports car just start from scratch.
7/18/2011 10:32:21 AM
That new audi Quattro concept looks legit, and awesome. I wonder how much that thing will cost. Maybe I can make it my "finally made the big time" car.
7/18/2011 10:37:46 AM
^it's going to be over $100k and probably compete against the 911. Also it's supposed a successor to the Quattro Sport, which is significantly different from your GT Coupe and was one of the most expensive cars of it's day
7/18/2011 1:18:45 PM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRPU_mfhYGAso.. why does VAG keep competing with itself? (since Porsche pretty much owns them or has that changed again?)the r8,911,& now the quattro all in thier own weird class of supercars. it seems like its going to be similar to what the gtr should have been. if it doesn't suck (in some giant achilles heel kind of way) and comes with a rowable transmission this may be a better car to get then the gtr. That and i'm sure the inline 5 will be a cinch to strap on a bigger turbo (as long as you weren't planning on twin scroll)]

7/18/2011 4:08:13 PM
^^ Nevermind, I see that you said the Audi Quattro Sport.
7/18/2011 4:50:37 PM
^^Nah I'm talking about the street cars. It was different than the regular coupe in that it was 13 inches shorter, used lightweight materials, had a 300 hp engine, hit 60 in less than 5 seconds, had an advanced ABS system and they only made 224 of them for homologation purposes. The car cost $75,000 in 1984 money, making it one of the most expensive cars of the day. Even today they fetch over $100k each ah, hehehe [Edited on July 18, 2011 at 4:56 PM.
