and how do I remove it without an impact wrench? The frame gets in the way of using a crescent wrench and socket or 2 crescent wrenches

extension? looks like the chain will have to come off first?????
6/26/2011 1:17:10 PM
I took the rear wheel and sprocket off. The chain isn't holding anything

humongous 8 point socket?

Look at threads, put the right size wrench on it,turn motor over with ignition
6/26/2011 4:25:23 PM
that won't workthink about it

does your manual say what the torque spec for it is?]
6/26/2011 8:08:35 PM
it's supposed to be 92
6/26/2011 8:12:31 PM
How do you remove it without an impact wrench? You borrow an impact wrench.
6/26/2011 8:21:13 PM
or a 30" breaker bar apparently lol
6/26/2011 8:22:17 PM
I put an 8 foot long pipe on mine and couldn't crack it, but it had been sitting for a few decades. A good impact wrench spun it right off. Took two of us to hold the bike down though.

Call me stupid but I am thinking about it. If its like a crank bolt on a car and it just turns the motor over it will work. If the bold just won't turn then heat the bitch up. I've never had a bolt whoop my ass so this won't be a problem.

if you turn the engine over while pulling the other way, you'll just tighten it more, assuming right hand threads, right?
6/27/2011 3:08:02 PM
that's the thing. different years have different threads. It spins freely so I can't tell which way to turn it
6/27/2011 3:20:18 PM
I'd ask a mechanic how they get it off
6/27/2011 3:26:06 PM
I'd imagine that in the absence of a locking mechanism, it's threaded such that the engine torque applied to it tightens it.
