I have some rims that nobody wants to buy. I was told I could get $20 per rim if I recycle them, but they have tires on them and nobody will take them with tires on them. Where can I go to get the tires taken off?

And I have some heavy metal dumbbells that I want to get rid off. 1 70lbs, 1 60lbs, and 1 90lbs. Can these be recycled? I think they are Iron.

rims:

shit. LKQ took a whole shitload from me. Half of them had tires on them too. But that was like 4 years ago and I only got 13 bucks apiece for them.

^haha, good luck doing that with car tires. The sidewalls are MUCH stiffer than those truck tires in the video. Trust me on this.

Low profile tires are a pain to mount by hand.

Are scrap priced back up again? Haven't take anything this year, but was disappointed last time.

tt&e usually has the best prices fwiw. i scrap a lot of copper/brass, and they consistently pay more than other places. i've found the same to be true with steel on the rare occasion i have any to scrap. a sawzall or even a hacksaw if you have one will make pretty quick work of getting those tires off.

^yeah, prices have been pretty damn good this year so far. down a little now compared to the first of the year, but still not bad.

this thread is relevant to my interests

i have four alloy rims from a 95 mustang that i need to get rid of...getting paid for them is certainly better than giving them away

TT&E is in garner, yes?

I'm pretty sure Best Tires over at the flea market on Capital Blvd. would do this for $5 a tire or less.

Yeah, they've been keeping my 4Runner rolling on decent rubber at dirt cheap prices for a few years. I always recommend them for people who aren't looking to spend a lot of money on a new set for whatever reason.
