So, I'm sure I'll get blasted for starting a new topic but I'm going for it.I have a '99 Chevy Cavalier (automatic) with around 125,000 miles. Just got my oil changed and the car inspecting like a couple of weeks and had no problems with anything.I pulled in my driveway and went to put my car in reverse to park on the street and my shifter was totally loose. It would move freely from park, reverse, neutral and to drive, 1, 2 with no pressure but without changing to any of them.I'm getting it towed to tomorrow to the shop and I'm pretty sure it's the transmission, any other possibilities though? Any suggestions?

could just be some fucked up linkage in there

Yeah, That's what the AAA guy said as well. I'm hoping that's what's wrong with it. What's an average price range if it is the linkage?

It was the transmission gear shift cable. Thank God it wasn't the actual transmission.
