why does Noah Wyle do all these terrible TV series?hopefully it's not nearly as lame as "The Librarian"]
6/14/2011 9:42:38 PM
Sounds almost exactly like that one zombie show that fell on its face.
6/14/2011 11:20:09 PM
The Walking Dead. that show turned into such a shitfest.]

After my supreme disappointment with The Walking Dead, I'll give this show a watch and see if it's any better.
6/14/2011 11:36:25 PM
I like how Noah Wyle is yet playing some sort of academic point dexter lead role to show how smart his character is. Maybe I'll watch, but yeah, after the disappointment of the walking dead, not too much expectation is in this...... unless we get some hot chicks in this bitch. I mean there's always hot babes in alien based entertainment.
6/14/2011 11:47:37 PM
why was the walking dead a disappointment, i missed that show
6/15/2011 12:03:47 AM
6/15/2011 12:48:04 AM
its the same genre and likely has the same premise.it'll be more about the drama between each of the survivors than it will be about dealing with the actual crisis at hand
6/15/2011 12:55:10 AM
What fucking idiot thinks The Walking Dead was a disappointment.Besides the universal critical acclaim, renewed reputation for AMC's production capabilities, and garnering a huge fan base, when did it become a disappointment?

I, too, would like to know when The Walking Dead turned into a disappointment. Almost everyone in the TWD thread seemed to love it, I hadnt heard any hate towards it until I opened this thread actually
6/15/2011 8:15:04 AM
this thread is full of morons. also
6/15/2011 8:31:44 AM
I, too, am hearing about disappointment in the Walking Dead for the first time in this thread. Regardless of whether or not you liked the Walking Dead it was generally well received, got good ratings, and made a ton of money so I would hardly say it fell flat on it's face. That being said, this thread is about Falling Skies so whatever. What channel does this show come on?
6/15/2011 9:06:20 AM
the walking dead sucked because most of the characters are unlikable. if the audience doesnt care about the characters the drama is irrelevent. same problem sgu had.
6/15/2011 9:40:09 AM
The Walking Dead started to suck around the second episode. I think I made it through 3 or 4 before I stopped watching.
6/15/2011 9:41:44 AM
TNT's bastard stepchild to Franklin and Bash. And the plot sounds like more or a ripoff of War of the Worlds to me.

Does not compute:http://www.metacritic.com/tv/the-walking-deadThe walking dead is universally critically acclaimed.

The walking dead was great. I swear... YOU PEOPLE! I am surprised I havent heard about this show. As soon as I saw the thread, I programmed the DVR to record the series.
6/15/2011 11:48:11 AM
I plan on watching this show.I also want to say I loved The Walking Dead and can't wait for season 2
6/15/2011 12:51:26 PM
i really enjoyed The Walking Dead. sometimes if you don't like characters, that's the point. i am simply impressed that they could make a zombie show...i usually get bored with the genre (done 10,000 times in movies) but the fact that they kept it fresh throughout the season was exciting to me. it's not easy to make a show like that have lasting appeal (for some, apparently).
6/15/2011 2:48:54 PM
A metacritic score of 82 means that "The Walking Dead is a good show" is about as objective of a statement you can get.
6/15/2011 3:10:52 PM
I did not realize Graham Yost was producing and writing for this show as well, he created Justified and was a writer on Band of Brothers and The Pacific.
6/15/2011 3:18:18 PM
this looks neatI hope the aliens aren't after human souls like they were in Vholy god that second season make me embarrassed to watch it around my roommates
6/15/2011 5:08:55 PM
The only reason I disliked The Walking Dead was that I had read the comics prior to seeing the show. The first episode of the show made me believe that the writers were going to be extremely faithful to the original material, but things deviated pretty quickly from the second episode on. I've loved the comic (up until recently when something happened which seems way too over the top to get beyond), and was just hoping for a direct translation. The show was OK up until the business with the daisy cutter at the CDC.

there was plenty of disappointment in TWD thread on hereI know, because I checked after each episode to make sure I wasnt the only one getting annoyed with the show[Edited on June 19, 2011 at 9:10 PM. Reason : .]

6/19/2011 9:11:39 PM
the event moved way too slow
6/19/2011 9:24:51 PM
V was fucking awful and it had nothing to do with science fiction. it was poorly written plain and simple. never watched the event but im guessing it was the same.if you want good scifi Fringe is the best on tv at the moment.
6/19/2011 9:25:51 PM
6/19/2011 9:35:59 PM
Fringe is way too cheesy, nothing lately competes with X-Filesthe remote children thing is kind cheesy on this show.
6/19/2011 9:37:07 PM
I just set my DVR to tape the encore that comes on right after the original airing. I will watch it tomorrow...I watched the first episode of the event and never watched another.
6/19/2011 9:42:19 PM
So much for "limited commercial interruptions". There has been a commercial break every 9 minutes so far. With 3 minutes of commercials, that means we get 6 whole minutes of the show before another break. Unbelievable, might be enough to deter me from watching. Everytime the story gets rolling another break happens
6/19/2011 9:46:44 PM
ok maybe not sci fi but more of a alien fantasy show. Interesting to think about how our government, churches and people would deal with an alien presence. V and Event really knocked that area out of the park in two different ways.
6/19/2011 10:00:47 PM
damn dad way to be a cock block
6/19/2011 10:06:39 PM
the Event felt like they were making it up as they wentmy favorite show-that-got-cancelled was Jericho. The production quality felt poor at times, but the story was great.also, this premiere feels too long. probably should have trimmed it down, its moving to slow. [Edited on June 19, 2011 at 10:27 PM. Reason : .]
6/19/2011 10:22:10 PM
^something seeming like it is made up as it goes is much more realistic than something predictable and yes this was too long and was hard to sit through.
6/20/2011 12:33:50 AM
eh, why do we need another origin story? that's actually what i enjoyed about this one, they're already long into this fight and yet still know very little about their enemy. We don't need another half season dedicated to them being taken over or forced out of their homes or having their army/government incapacitated. That being said, I thought it was unusual to introduce the rebel faction within the first two hours but I'm glad that it was quickly resolved, long enough to make their leader an interesting character but just short enough that his henchmen were only a tad bit annoying. This reminds me of Jericho/TWD/and the colony seasons of BSG all mixed together.
6/20/2011 8:30:28 AM
the last half wasn't bad, i will probably watch the next episode based on that.my guess for this premier was that they had too much for a one hour episode, so the producers/network decided to stretch it out to 2 hours. i think they could have cut 45 minutes pretty easily.
6/20/2011 9:00:04 AM
it's the same tactic Lost and 24 used for years.
6/20/2011 9:46:11 AM
those were just slow because the writers had no idea where they were going with the story
6/20/2011 9:51:13 AM
Fairly entertaining for a late Sunday evening. Will probably watch a few more episodes to see if they can keep it dynamic.
6/20/2011 10:33:00 AM
It was much, much better than I expected. Definitely a lot better than V.
